Another TA question - injured and need workout reccomendation

Hi,

I have had a particularly nasty fall from a horse, and my right arm is completely out of action. Not broken but I have torn some muscles (still waiting on more tests) and also have calcium building up in the muscle from where I went through the fence

It's been 3 weeks, and I am still not able to use the arm, incredibly frustrating as I had just gotten into a good routine with the yoga, TA and jogging.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me find some TA workouts where I don't need to get down on all 4's. I can probably do the light weights on my left arm and just rest while she works the right?

Any ideas? I really want to keep up some form of activity

Thanks

I'm really sorry to hear about your accident. I hope your recovery goes smoothly.

Tracy does have some standing leg work and you can view them via Youtube. Her mat workout has a nice standing leg series and so does Perfect Design 2 and 3. I'm not sure if we're allowed to link here on VF. Just look for Tracy Anderson Mat part 2 of 5. This will be the standing leg work in mat. For PDS, just do a search and you'll find them.

I'm sorry to hear about your injury. Being out of commission is incredibly frustrating.

Have you thought about more traditional barre work? In those workouts, only 10-15 minutes are devoted to upper body so you'd get a solid 45 minutes or so of lower body and core focused work that would probably help train the muscles you were working with TA. Booty Barre in particular!

I agree, I would either chill or just walk if you absolutely need exercise.

If you have a pool nearby, that is a great option to start with. I have had a few injuries and have hit the pool to swim lengths or do deep water walking/running with a floaty belt on. It was a life saver for me more than once!

I agree with this too. I know it's frustrating when you can't work out because of injury or illness, but your body needs time to heal.

I would just take it easy too... but I know what lack of movement can do to a formerly active person! How about exploring some restorative yoga + walking instead ?

I'm sorry that you're injured. I hope you heal quickly.

There are TA clips on youtube. I would only do the standing lower body work. Barre is another option (again only lower body). Some stretching would also work (depending on what you're stretching).

Walking is another workout alternative. I just wouldn't swing my arms.

First and foremost, I would listen to your body. If you need to rest, then rest. To be honest, I didn't really rest after my knee surgery. I went to PT right away. I started exercising after a few days. I just did upper body weight lifting while sitting on my Firm box and did squats while holding onto my bed post. I even did boxing for cardio. But everybody is different
