Doc asked for me to consider adding Yoga

... to my workout regiment. With just starting back to really moving again and being kind to myself, I'm up for trying yoga. I'm not against this method of movement or practice, just never been drawn to it.

I've tried Jessica Smith, and for the life of me can't get motivated but adore her personality. Go figure. I watched Cathe's clips at Total Fitness and am specifically asking for opinions on these titles:

Perfect Flow
Yoga Relax
Yoga Mat

I know there are tons of instructors out there that could be recommended, but I like the athletic look and feel of what Cathe offers. I have about 4 of Cathe's workouts that I was using and hope to use again soon. It's only taking me forever to warm up to Cathe. LOL

ETA: I have no expectations of completing any yoga routine all the way through in the beginning. I realize it's something to work toward. Modifying is my middle name and has been for years.

TIA ~

Tina- I'm not much of a yoga person myself. I know it is good for me, but I have a hard time reaching for these types of workouts. But I would like to recommend Crunch Yoga. I've had this for years and I always feel great after doing these workouts!

Also, on YouTube Mady Morrison has some great yoga inspired stretching routines. She has yoga workouts, too, but they are in German. Luckily you don't need to know German for her stretching workouts!

I have the Perfect Flow workout so I looked at my notes because it's been a year. My notes state that there is a section of plank work but other than that there is not a lot of sun salutations or vinyasa flow. HTH.

Are you open to using you tube? There are a ton of options.

I'm not into yoga either, but I really enjoy Ellen Barrett's Yogini.

I don't know if you'd prefer a female (or male) instructor, but I really like Dean Pohlman of Man Flow Yoga on YouTube. He has a number of DVDs on Amazon that are very beginner friendly also. He has his shirt off during some of the yoga, and that could be a bit of a distraction or motivation....maybe?

I think I like Dean because he is a good instructor and his pace is not fast, for someone new to yoga. He seems very down to earth, as well. His yoga is also athletic style, instead of spiritual.

Jane Adams has several DVDs that feature easier/senior yoga. She also has some that focus on balance and flexibility. She is very pleasant, and there's a beautiful outdoor setting. I normally don't like yoga, but I can do her workouts. Also, I don't know if you are a Denise Austin fan or not (people either like her or they don't), but I like the more athletic feel of her yoga workouts. The ones I like in particular are Hot Body Yoga, Yoga Body Burn, and Power Yoga Plus. Finally, there is the 10 Minute Solution Yoga for Beginners DVD with 10 minute segments.

I finished my 200 hour yoga teacher training with Brett Larkin and have just started my 300 hour training. I find her yoga videos to be very doable and I can easily modify what I can't do. Check her out and see if she fits what you are looking for.

While I do appreciate all the suggestions, I was asking specifically about these titles by Cathe. Part of coming back from being ill, is regaining my motivation.

Yoga itself, does not. But I'm will to try with an instructor that motivates me who has workouts available. I have recently added Cathe on a limited basis and I like what I use so far.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my original post.

Tina, if athletic style yoga appeals to you, Karen Voight has some good choices. i haven't tried Cathe's yoga, but the few stretching segments i've tried with her in her other workouts are on the strenuous side.

Her Streamline Fitness workout despite being billed as a toning workout was what introduced me to yoga - particularly the "PM" or second segment, at almost 30 minutes. she uses squishy 3# balls to help with positioning. the AM segment is mostly standing using the 3# balls.

As usual, Karen gives really good form pointers at the appropriate times.

My DH loved her Pure & Simple Stretch and did it quite often.

in addition, if you have Debbie Siebers' Slim & Limber it also has a more athletic vibe while being very accessible to beginners. it's only 14 min too.

i credit both Karen and Debbie in introducing me to yoga. I added Rodney Yee. he has a lot of DVDs that have 10-min segments.
