Perhaps this is terrible of me, but when I used to have more spare time, at the end of the night I would go back to the origins of the forum and slowly work my way through the controversial threads. I always knew the controversial thread because the threads would have many pages and the thread would often be locked. It was kind of like my version of watching a soap opera or reading the tabloids or something. Plus, it gave me context because when I first began lurking at VF (before I joined), there would be a VERY occasional reference to something and I would have no clue what was being referenced.
Some of the most memorable controversies in the very, very distant VF past were "she who cannot be named," the person who pretended to be several different people on VF and finally got found out, deltaman, more "recently" pretty much every TA and "bulking" thread, and so on. There were also quite a few lengthy and locked threads that people started to discuss the issue of controversial threads and threads being locked which I guess is kind of "meta". For those looking for some non-controversial, pure VF humor though, this thread is one of my favorites: "Dirty videos..." http://forum.videofitness.com/showthread.php?t=161523 |
