I always think of Natasha Richardson when it comes to head injuries. Some head injuries can cause pain for days or weeks or seem to improve while are still very serious like subdural hematomas.

I hope you whatever you decide to do, that your recovery is quick.
Thank you and I'm glad you were okay. The scan would be around 2k and not hundreds and I can't justify that expense when I feel pretty certain that I'm fine at this point. No confusion, balance issues, slurred speech, etc. Just fatigue/headache/nausea. I've had three major surgeries (and two minor ones) in the past 4 years and have cost us 20k in medical care during that time. And that's just me and not including the expenses of the rest of our family. This year I'll already have many doctor/PT visits as I recover from my foot surgery and I may have to have another surgery to get the hardware out.

Last year I was pressured to get a brain MRI by two of my doctors who suspected a pituitary tumor. I knew I didn't have one and put it off for six months before finally getting it. Sure enough, no tumor but I had a $1700 hospital bill. I'd feel terrible doing it all over again for this.

Thank you for sharing and also for your good wishes!

I looked up subdural hematomas and now I'm scared.

You are right, Sherry. I'm sitting here bawling now. I don't want to cost us so much money again. I don't want to expose us to Covid. I don't know what to do. Sorry to vent...I am just a mess over this.

Erica, I’m in a similar boat with health care and money and can totally relate. I’m sorry you have to stress out so much about it. Hugs.

My suggestion would be to get a second opinion from the teledoc. If they agree with your doctor, or want you to get a scan, either way it could reassure you that it’s the right thing to do. Sending prayers your way.

Thank you. It's horrible (and dangerous) that we are afraid to seek health care because of the expense. I almost died a few years ago because of that and I'm sure others have done the same or actually did die.

Praying for wisdom for you to do what is best and for protection if you are told to go for evaluation.

Hugs!

I called my lousy doctor because the nausea is really wearing me down. I have Zofran here and asked her if it's okay to take that for the nausea or if I should get something OTC or if it's better to take nothing at all. She said the Zofran was fine - didn't ask me about the dosage or tell me how often or how long it's safe to take it. She sounded like she couldn't wait to get off the phone. I've been a patient in her office for about 8 years and have never contacted her after hours before so it's not like I'm a constant nuisance. Good grief. Thank goodness for Dr. Google.

There’s no way I’d stick with an awful doctor for 8 years.
