Hi everyone!
I have DOMS like crazy today after Cathe yesterday. However, I dragged myself out of bed and got in a long tough Tonique/Barlates workout today. I mean, I missed three workout days, and about to have two planned rest days, so I just went for it. I loved the youtube Tonique so much last week that I did the same workout, it's just 10 minutes but serves as an excellent warm up. Then I did Barlates Traditional Barre Series (this one: https://www.totalfitnessdvds.com/Tra...arl-p/1260.htm) the Compound (24), Back Body (24), and the last several minutes of the Dynamic, plus Callanetics stretching for an overall 80 minute workout. The Compound turned out to be all long lever leg and arm raises front, side, and back and about 20 minutes of that was very taxing! The Back Body was neat, it used the wall to do lunges from (I've seen this move in some Pure Barre streaming workouts, and I know Linda does their streaming so I'm sure that's where she got it from-LOL) with your back heel pushing on the wall to engage your glute on your back leg, and your front leg is of course also working. Then there were triceps presses and pushups off the wall, then some prone glutes and back work. I did the tail end of Dynamic to get some final seat work and abs. So I felt like I hit all the muscle groups today and am totally fatigued now. Anyway I am enjoying the Barlates workouts while I'm taking a break from Pure Barre! Eventmom waves! Buzzer I love all of the Firm volumes and ALL of the sultry looks that they contain! LOL. Volume 2 probably contains the MOST sultry looks LOL! I also know most of the words and it keeps me energized. They are just the best! It's funny what you said about handstands because there is one Tonique workout, I think a Mexico one that is shorter but basically all handstands. In this particular workout she does handstands off the wall and then kicks her leg back (with the intent of landing back on the wall) and I lost my balance and slammed my whole body down on my back. Thankfully I have my blue exercise mat, but I skimmed the fanny step on the way down and had a very deep bruise on my upper thigh/butt area for a long time. It was more shocking than painful, but I never really did handstands with zeal after that And since then my knees and wrists are like no thanks LOL. I have discovered that I like step aerobics with the Firm, but I'm thinking the choreography is very beginner compared to 'real' step aerobics like with Cathe or some others. Even the smaller square step seems more manageable to me than a long step. The choreography is just too fast, too complex, just too much! I'm finding I prefer hi-low. Cathe's LITE Dance Party has a lot of hi-low and it's much easier in general. And of course, all the hi-low in Firm workouts. I know I'll never lose all the weight too, from my fittest, or even my second fittest before I met DH. Life just gets complicated and I get older. But I still want to give it my best effort so in 10 and 20 years when it's much harder, that I have a good foundation, hopefully. Great job logging your calories! Every weight loss book says to keep a food log, but like you said it is so tedious. Your plan to drink more, sleep more, and eat good is all you can do! That's the winning formula! I know what you mean about shirts with memories too. Some I remember being loose and now they're snug, or others I remember feeling amazing in and now I just don't, even if they do fit. I just read in a book the other day how possessions hold so much memories, and it's true. I just don't have all the confidence I used to possess right now although I'm trying to work on building it back up (regardless of my weight). I hope when "life goes back to normal" that I'll feel better and not worse. I anticipate I'll start going back to the office around September when school starts. I've seen Planet 51 and it's adorable! I don't think I've seen the Penguins movie, although I've watched at least a couple of the Madagascar movies so I know their charm. I'll check it out!

Hi all! I started my workout week today with Cathe ICE Metabolic Total Body. The main workout is 48 minutes and I didn't even miss the abs, because there is plenty of core engagement in the main workout! I met or went a little lighter than Cathe's weight and used a range from 5-12# and it was just great. I was sweaty and energized but not wiped, like I was with Cathe ICE Boot Camp Circuit a couple of weeks ago. I was so glad to 'show up' today after being so spotty last week with unplanned rest days. If I can show up on Wednesday, the rest of my 5-day workout week falls into place.
Tomorrow not sure yet, a Pink or BSS Firm, or maybe ACE HIIT for something different (that was pulled out recently thanks to my Alphabet Tour )? Eventmom I do love that Fitprime 6 Day Trainer! TA Mat is a classic too, of course! Buzzer The lunges with the back heel on the wall are interesting, you can see them starting at 0:26 in the preview (https://www.totalfitnessdvds.com/Tra...arl-p/1260.htm). I tried to really push against the back wall to feel it in my back hamstring/glutes. To be honest I was thinking it's not too different than dong a lunge with the loop around your front ankle and back foot. But Linda goes on to add higher taps to the back wall and then to lunge with the foot elevated in the back wall, which was definitely challenging! I really like Firm Super Cardio Mix too. Have you ever noticed the neutral/tan lighting this one has? It's partly because they're all wearing very neutral colors (compared to the rainbow colors in other workouts), but it's also the filming itself. I thought maybe my DVD was bad, but clips on youtube also show it in the tan lighting too. Or is it just me? This is the only Firm that seems to be in this lighting LOL and I find it distracting, but I still love the workout. I know exactly the tune you are talking about with Jen, she says "we're establishing our pattern!" I agree with you that the later BSS Firms with the long steps have much more complicated (and less fun) step aerobics. I'm sure many people find the classic Firms too easy (not complicated) but I think they're the best! I know over the years I've gotten rid of most of my very large clothes from 15 years ago (but kept a few pieces as relics to look back on) and gotten rid of most of my tiniest clothes from maybe 10 years ago (but kept a few pieces again to look back on). That way I can keep a memory of where I was at, good and bad, through the years. Now I try to do a twice annual clothes purge where I get rid of clothes I just don't like anymore. I have a larger wardrobe, and buy way too many clothes, and keep some pieces for years, and get rid of others after just a year. Some clothes I'm on the fence about, and I say next time I purge, if I still haven't worn this, I will toss it. It's easier to be objective when it isn't about what fits though. Occasionally I purge jeans that used to be THE PAIR (that I looked great in, felt the most confident in) but over time they've worn out and/or just don't look great in anymore, and I know they never will. Recently I got rid of a lot of shorts that fit me for a few years but just don't anymore. Even though I can technically squeeze into them and zip them up, they just don't look good anymore at all. It's definitely hard getting rid of family possessions passed down. I agree, next generation will not even know who people are, so that's a tough decision. I think your muscle activation with TTapp will help you with whatever workouts you decide to do! I've gotten great results with Firm workouts before. They carried me through my 20s when I was in the best shape of my life. I think the Cathes are speaking to my body now because there's less cardio involvement, but I also need some cardio to loosen up my muscles from all the strength work. Of course it's also about what you are motivated to do consistently. Is Firm Cardio Dance Fusion the one with Jen from the Firm Express workouts? I picked that one up at Marys last time but haven't done it yet, LOL. It looked like the choreography was manageable. I agree Pink Firms wane when compared to older Firms but they're probably above average when it comes to other run of the mill DVDs that came out around that time. The water park sounds fun and I'm glad you got a chance to sleep in!
