I once saw Ed Asner eating in a local restaurant with a former US senator who worked at the same university where I worked. I think that's the closest I had ever been to a famous actor. Ed's sister and her husband lived in the same town and I met her many years ago when I was a college student and worked in a store near campus. I didn't know who she was until she left and my boss said that she was Ed Asner's sister.

Ed Asner also had a very small role in the Netflix series "Dead to Me."
