Question KCM's Start Here

Does Kelly do traditional weight lifting in this workout or is it more like functional fitness?

The reviews are very good on this workout. Did anyone not like it? If so, what were your reasons for not liking it?

workout one is a bit boring..... BUT it is supposed to be a more beginner workout... i use start here on my really sore days or when i'm tired.... i like to move when i'm sore and the marching, leg lifts, etc... fit that.... the weight work of workout two is regular weight work and i like it a lot cuz when i do this workout... it's on a day i need something less intense (which, again... is what the workout is supposed to be... and i emphasize that because i remember kelly commenting either on FB or her forum that she realizes this is not an advanced workout and didn't want advanced exercisers bashing it for not being intense... it's not intense... it's not supposed to be...)

workout one (cardio - 27 min)
march/squat pop/alternating side leg lifts/alternating knee lifts/4 knees/safe touchdown/

jump rope/triple stomp/side-to-side squat/rock/side jacks/alternating reverse lunge/jog/side hops

4 sets upper cycle
2 sets cross country
2 setrs lateral raise/pec dec
2 sets back stroke
5 sets bicep curls/tricep kickbacks

squat/lighthouse
standing crunches


Workout Two (body sculpting – 26 min)
single arm rows
squats
double arm rows
squats

alternating bicep curls
static lunges
bicep curls
static lunges

alternating lateral raises
plie squats
lateral raises
plie squats

single arm tricep kickbacks
reverse lunges
double tricep kickbacks
reverse lunges

knee pushups
kneeling reach/pull
lift/pull superwomans

stretch

I don't like it. I think it's boring, and not because it's too easy. Just because it's boring (to me). I seriously detest the pop squats and usually sub something else there. I only use it occasionally, like when I'm not feeling tip top or I'm not able to think (as in, not able to follow choreography or be bothered to engage my brain).

I really enjoy the first workout. The second one is a good basic strength workout that I never do because I find it boring. However, some of the premixes mix the first workout with different emphases from the second workout (upper body, legs, etc.) and I really enjoy those. So, you need that boring second workout for the premixes.

Once again, Caligurl and I are in agreement. Yes, it is a beginner level program and can be boring, but I will take the cardio routine in Start Here over using Leslie. I also use it when I am a little too sore or too tired to use a more advanced cardio routine.

Me too, or sometimes I just do something entirely different like a big fat lunge. I haven't done it in so long I don't remember.
