Dena, LOL about the "ouch" from your BF! I agree that this pose gave a good upper body stretch; I want to work a version of it into some of my classes.

01/23/2022 - Day 34 - Kassandra's Heart Opening Yin.

This practice had a pose combining sleeping swan (pigeon) with thread the needle. It felt interesting, but I must have looked like I fell off a cliff!

Dena that's funny about your boyfriend's "ouch." My husband can't stand to see me in hero's pose, he looks away and says "how can you do that?" with a shudder. (He has bad knees.)

I was thinking...one way you may prep your students for penguin is turtle pose. It would be easier on the wrists and allow them to get a (deeper) stretch before attempting penguin.

I've seen moon salutations mentioned. I didn't know what that was so looked it up and saw the sequence. Does anyone have a recommendation for a YouTube practice, preferably around 20 minutes? Thanks!

I'm definitely checking out that pose in Kassandra's practice, Pat. I love learning new yoga poses.

As for your husband, my boyfriend calls my yoga practices 'Pretzel Practice'. LOL He just can't fathom how I can get my body into some of the contortions (as he calls them), or how I can do so many of the balance poses (crow/side crow, peacock, headstand, etc.) when I have such a small stature. I tell him strength often comes from your mind and within, not just muscles. I'm sure Yoda would have some appropriate saying along those lines...

Dena - I love it!

I'll never forget once, before I had my own space and was doing yoga in the LR, my teenage son walks in after school and I'm on the floor ass-up in shoulder stand. He doesn't even blink an eye - "Hi Mom," brings his books upstairs.

Vannie, Pam has been doing a lot of these. The one she did that I liked (because it was similar to how I've been taught) was only 12 minutes:

You could definitely repeat this sequence; I learned them to go first facing one way on the mat, then the other.

LOL Sounds like your son was indoctrinated at an early age.
