Tangerine, do you read the China Bayles series by Susan Wittig Albert? They are not cozy, but they are very well written.

These are not exactly cozy, but they aren't dark or violent either: the Kincaid & James mysteries set in Britain by Deborah Crombie - https://www.cozy-mystery.com/Deborah-Crombie.html.

Excellent character development throughout the series. Love, love, love these!

Another vote for Sharyn McCrumb's Ballad series (I didn't know about the others) and Julie Mulhern's Deep End, I read it last year and gave it my book of the year award. Just got Clouds in My Coffee.
Seasoned Southern Sleuths is another series I liked, it's a lot more lighthearted.
The Forgotten Florida Coast series is great but maybe not quite in the cozy genre.
Thanks for starting this thread and all the great new books to explore!

Wonderful! So many great ideas!

I've placed an order and will let you all know how it goes. Also, I've taken notes and will try out a few more authors/series if all goes well.

I appreciate the non-cozy mysteries suggestions as well. I love variety!

I see many others among us who are learning and discovering this new-to-us genre. Thanks to all who have contributed suggestions.

I haven't tried this, I will try one from the library thanks!

I did try her Darling Dahlias series and didn't find that one appealing.

Tangerine, I think the China Bayles series is up to number 27! It is worthwhile to read them in order. I could not get into her other series either.

You may also like Ellen Hart's Jane Lawless series.

Has anyone mentioned the Charles Lenox series yet? The first is A Beautiful Blue Death, but the author's recently written some prequels.

I do like and read the Louise Penny novels, but find them too dark for a re-read.

Elly Griffiths is a good author. Of her series, I like the Ruth Galloway the best.
