Looking forward to the new Stephen King - thanks difit.
I am currently reading Dune Road by Jane Green. It's been awhile since I read any of her books (I know I have read several), and I can't recall how much I liked them, but this one is pretty meh. I definitely don't like the constant change in POV, and I've already guessed one of the twist since it's not all all subtle. |
I bought myself Lois Lowry's The Giver box set/quartet for my birthday. :D
I've already reread The Giver (I wanted to get it fresh in my mind before giving it to DD13 to read). |

I just started "Perfect Stranger" by Jake Cross . It is British psychological suspense. I just finished "Because You're Mine" by Rea Frey. I did not guess the huge twist. I liked it so much that I ordered another book by the author. |
I guess I lucked out by ordering the new Becky Chambers . It came the other day, so I'm already reading it.
I'm not sure what to think of it. May take a couple of readings to decide. It's a thoughtful thing, with some rather overt social justice themes. I prefer it when an author shows instead of telling, so time will tell. Editing this post to mention that I really like this book. Yet another good story from Becky Chambers. Kind of dark and hopeful at the same time. Not violent, just likely to provoke deep thoughts, at least for me. Thumbs up. This one is shorter than her other books, though. Becky Chambers has become my favorite author mostly because all her work holds up to multiple rereads. Good, thought provoking, character based sci-fi. She's clearly given some thought to what it would actually be like to live in space, and how that environment would affect her characters. I'm currently rereading the first in the series and I'm noticing details that have bearing in later books that were just sort of window dressing the first time through. This new one is set in a different time, though, and so far as I can tell, has no direct connection to any of the characters we've met before. At least not yet. Looking forward to the next one. |
I am a teacher and I work long hours. I work a lot on the weekend but two books I plan to read for pleasure this year are:
The Winter Long - the 8th book in the October Daye series and The Cold Dish by Craig Johnson. I loved the Longmire series and everyone says the books are, of course, WAY better. It will take me a while to get through the series. |
Any Joshilyn Jackson fans here? I borrowed the e-version of The Almost Sisters from my library on Saturday, and I love it!

Thank you for posting the new releases every month. I appreciate it.
It didn't know there was a spinoff of the Savannah Reid mysteries with Granny. I will have to read the first one. Thanks Anita |
