Perfect Workout Length? Do you do multiple workouts, etc?

What is your perfect workout length? I just shortened my evening online classes to 30 minutes, as I noticed a lot of people were leaving at that mark. And, if I'm honest, I prefer 30-45 minutes.

I also like to do a couple short workouts strung together, and I walk every day with my dog. An hour long workout (for me) is sometimes daunting.

Hi Jackie!

I also like shorter workouts, 30 min is perfect, up to 45 is okay occasionally. My live Essentrics classes are still 60 min, my online ones are 40 min. I like to use a gentle 20 - 30 min workout, like Essentrics or BellyFit, to warm up before I do weights, and a nice leisurely floor stretch to finish up. I also like to walk outside whenever I can.

I find an hour long strength workout with weights very daunting! I like teaching an hour Essentrics class, the time flies by, but when I’m doing Essentrics on ETV, I prefer 20-30 min. I often do the standing portion only, especially if I’m doing other toning and stretching.

I’ve gotten into the habit of stringing together short workouts to reach 30-40 minutes total. 10-15 upper body, 15-20 lower, 10-15 stretch.

I like 45 min workouts.

I can add stretching on if I want, but its long enough to feel like I did something.

I do essentrics online during my lunch hour. I like the 30 minutes lives or the 20 minute CS episodes

It really depends on the type of workout for how long I like to work out. Intense or high impact cardio- 30 minutes. Heavy weight workouts- 30 -45 minutes. Circuit workouts 30-45 minutes. Steady state cardio or walking workouts- probably 60 minutes. 45 minutes seems to be my sweet spot as I like to add on extra stretching at the end and I'm still done within an hour.

Workouts that hit at 45 minutes are just about perfect for me. That doesn't include the post workout stretch. The actual "work" in the workout (warm up included) usually has to hit around 45 minutes to me.

That's not to say I don't get a lot done in 30 minutes. I really appreciate my 30 minute workouts. But the perfect length is 45 minutes for me. And I really do not like stringing workouts together. Breaks up the flow for me. If I have to switch out dvds chances are high I'm not going to finish working out lol! Popping out the dvd signals the end of the workout for me.

I like an hour or maybe an hour plus a few minutes more. For example, I'll do a 30 minute cardio workout, a 30 minute weights/toning workout, and then 5-10 minutes of the Minna Lessig One Minute Workout or a 10 Minute Solution yoga or Pilates or something like that.

The last couple years I find myself stringing together short workouts but the problem is that before I realize it I've spent like 2 hours in my gym!

My workouts are in addition to 3 walks a day with my dog (2 if it's too hot for the afternoon one).

Weekdays 30-45 minutes is the perfect length. As I workout before work.

Weekends I can do 60-90 minutes, but usually it is steady state and then a nice stretch afterwards.
