Bellyfit 50% off sale and new routine

They have a new class called Shakti Ma which fuses yoga and bellydance. There is a clip on their site. The price is 11.00 but it is half off for the sake also.

Pat58 12-09-17 09:53 AM

Thanks Sherry, I viewed the clip via Facebook. I wonder if this workout is a preview for another series in the works?

Pat58 12-09-17 10:08 AM

It came to $5.50 CD with the sale, so it will be less in US dollars. How could I pass that up?

I wondered about that also. I am sure they would answer if we asked. :D

I will likely buy it also.

I also saw it on FB and wondered if there's another series in the works. And for $5.50 I HAD to buy it! :D

Margot 12-09-17 12:05 PM

Thanks Sherry. The preview looks good.

I need to check that. Good question!

Eta: I do not see a time listed. Maybe someone who already bought it could please answer.

I didn't see the length in the description on their website.

Usia 12-09-17 02:42 PM

I also like the BellyFit Bundle Season 1, but can't figure out if these are downloads or streaming only?

Pat58 12-09-17 02:48 PM

Just loaded it - it is 1:01:03.

I have a sore throat and feel really crappy today, but I'm going to give it a go in about 20 minutes and report back later.

sherry7899 12-09-17 02:51 PM

Dana, you can download them. I put them on dvd-r.

Pat, I am so sorry you are sick. I hope you feel better soon.

Usia 12-09-17 02:55 PM

Thank you Sherry and Pat! I'm buying the bundle as well as the new class. I previewed some of them and I like them a lot! I have the original Bellyfits on DVDs and like those too! Besides, at 50% off, how can I pass these up? :D

zraipel 12-09-17 03:02 PM

Thank you so much for posting this! You know how much I love Bellyfit, but I never seem to be on top of when they have sales, and I didn't have the BellyfitTV episodes, so I took advantage of this sale and got the bundle along with the ShaktiMa episode

You are welcome! If you are on Facebook they post about sales and new classes. They sent out an email about it also but it landed in my spam folder.
I am glad I saw the Facebook mention.

Usia 12-09-17 03:15 PM

I'm super excited! I got Shakti Ma and the 12 class bundle for the total of USD 34.26. I would be crazy to pass this up! Thanks again Sherry for posting about the sale.

yogapam 12-09-17 03:48 PM

I am very excited to try it!

Review

Okay Goddesses here is what I remember, the times and my thoughts:

Meditation is seated until 7:55 - Alice's usual intro, belly breath, lotus lift, then a lot of nice slow stomach grinds.

Stand for the warmup which goes until 15:12. Gentle and flowing, introduces temple dancer, shakti rise (standing heel bumps then flicking away energy with hip bumps), twist rotations - feels kind of Kundalini meets trance dance in the Bellyfit studio. Goddess pose (GP) with flowy arms - there is more.

By the way all of the side to side flows use GP as home base.

Full workout starts 15:12 with Power It Up set, from GP to lunge to side. Find your mudra which is shakti mudra, complicated and my fingers would not do it so chin mudra worked for me. Hold, three pumps up and down, arms up to W-I swing back around to GP, other side. The first Power It Up set was S-L-O-W and Alice instructs ALOT.

There is a moving chair variation with twists, W-II with snake arms, swivel to standing and slide ribs side to side while going back to GP. there are some hip grinds, a slide with hip bumps, typical BF stuff but slow with lots of deep breathing and "energy moving." All those sets were nice.

The vinyasa starts at 27:45. I was worried about the V word. Carlita shows a modified version. It is a slow basic V, and in fact the first instructional part is again very slow. GP to lunge to plank, one pushup, down dog. Repeats 3X then one leg up and through to a lunge. You stay in lunge low, then rise to high lunge if desired, arms out, add a shimmy (I could not - I'd fall over if I shimmied in high lunge) then a brief W-I, around to GP and repeat. With very slow motion tutorial and the detailed instructions the Vinyasa set got a little aggravating and felt awkward.

Now at 34:04 beings the full TIFT from the warmup through the vinyasa. I think there were four full TIFTS, maybe five. It began to flow better without the minute details. It remained slow and mostly easy, meditative and mildly exotic, except for Power up and V word. Music reminded me of Arabian Nights, I liked it. Alice counts during the holdy parts.

At 52:55 we do a few hip drops. 54:46 down to the floor for hip stretches and close. No cool down is necessary.

I loved parts and felt other parts got a little too holdy and detailed. My legs got a good workout and for a few minutes my heart rate got mildly elevated.

Pros: great music, good modifier, bright sets, lots of flowing Bellyfit moves. Slow deep breathing throughout, cleared my head. Seemed to be less TIFTy than usual.

Cons: didn't care for the vinyasa set - not a fan of vinyasa in the first place. That said, the V word is not the primary focus of the workout. The Power Up lunges last too long and have an awkward mudra and altogether go too slow up until 3/4 through when it all comes together better.

If plies bother your knees, this might not be your workout. There is a bit of a quirk - sometimes between sides during Power Up, the set kind of stops and there is a filming trick I can't correctly described - like in old time movies when they introduce a new scene and a diagonal line slides across the screen. It was weird but didn't interrupt too much. This workout did not have the advertisement.

sherry7899 12-09-17 07:10 PM

Pat, I really appreciate your thorough review. Thank you! Vinyasa will likely be my least favorite part also.

I hope you are feeling better.

Usia 12-09-17 07:56 PM

Thanks for the detailed review, Pat! I'll be downloading my workouts tomorrow since my internet can be iffy especially on Sunday mornings.

Pat58 12-10-17 11:00 AM

I can't wait to read your thoughts on it Dana and everyone who bought it.

It was a grumpy head cold day for me in the first place.

Usia 12-10-17 11:50 AM

I downloaded all 13 videos this morning and I just finished previewing Grounded. Video looks really fun and pretty intense although I'm pretty sure I can't move my hips like Alice does. Cardio portion is about 35 min, then Alice goes into about 3-4 min of like promotional section for BellyFit system, after which she finishes the class with prone glute lifts, plank abs criss-cross and finally a stretch. I thought that placement of this promotional section in the middle of the workout (after cardio and before stretch) was kind of odd, but overall I really liked this class and look forward to actually doing it. I haven't previewed anything else yet. I'm glad I got this bundle, especially at such good price.

Usia 12-10-17 08:24 PM

I just previewed The Huntress and it's yet another fun and lively routine with great music except again, for this "BF infomercial" at 34 to 37 minutes. Kind of breaks the stride, but the stretch that followed included pigeon pose and I will forgive anyone for anything if they give me pigeon stretch at the end. That or any mushroom dish. I'm easy that way. :o

yogapam 12-10-17 08:32 PM

Dana - lol about pigeon pose & mushroom dishes, I'm with you on both! :D I've done most of the BellyFit tv workouts and all have a little "infomercial" about 3/4 of the way through. I found that a bit distracting, but all in all I love the workouts. I know some dislike TIFTTing, which Alice does a lot, but I don't mind it at all.

Pat58 12-11-17 09:25 AM

I love the Bellyfit TV workouts. I just go and get my water during the ad, or fast forward it.

That ad tempts me to become an instructor! Ha ha ha that would a trip. :D

Usia 12-18-17 09:54 AM

I did S1E1 Grounding this morning. It was quite enjoyable and made my body feel good and loose. I was actually grateful for all the TIFTTing because I needed to do some moves several times to get the hang of them. I was suprised that my Fitbit registered about 3400 steps for this workout. Stretch at the end felt good too. I'm planning to do Episode 2 - Clarity - tomorrow. I'm glad I got these.

amery 12-18-17 12:31 PM

I bought the BF TV bundle, and Shakti-Ma and it only came to 35.39 USD!

Usia 12-20-17 07:08 PM

This morning I did Clarity, episode 2 and I loved it! Both Grounding and Clarity made me feel really good and at peace with the world. I felt happy, and my body felt loose and relaxed but nicely worked and stretched out. Once again, my fitbit registered about 3400 steps for this workout. I was nowhere near as graceful as Alice with the hip thrusts, but I tried. I just previewed episode 3 - Light Warrior and it looks and sounds great. I am so enjoying these and I may possibly rate these as my best purchases of 2017, together with Pilates by Lisa subscription!

ETA: I bought Jessica's WS3 set too, but I won't start it until Jan 1, 2018 so I can't tell yet if they will also be on my best purchases of 2017 or not. :)

Pat58 12-21-17 10:28 AM

Dana I'm curious as to how you enjoy Light Warrior, Episode 3 - so far that has been my favorite.

I want to try Shakti Ma again soon - maybe knowing what's coming up, I can approach it with less frustration and find my own modifications, which I do sometimes with Bellyfit anyway.

Sorry I didn't give my feedback earlier, Pat. Light Warrior was not my favorite episode for some reason. I like energetic workouts and I feel this episode didn't have the energy and had more complex choreography that I wanted. It was slower than I like but nice and stretchy nevertheless.

I have to say that BellyFitTV has been my best purchase of 2017. I am now working my way through BellyFit Elements DVD set which I've purchased few years ago but have only done one of the DVDs because I wasn't that into them at the time. Now it's a different story. I did Earth and Air workouts and I really enjoyed them. My body and my back loved it! I've been feeling so good with the BellyFits and I'm surprised by it. No more aches and pains. How wonderful is that?

I did Shakti Ma last week after I completed all BFTV episodes 1-12. Shakti Ma moves slower than other workouts and focuses on lower body. Nice, stretchy workout that I will do again when I need to stretch out or I'm low on energy. Love these! Now I'm looking into NiaTV. For someone who doesn't normally like dancey workouts, I'm surprised how much I like these.

Pat58 02-11-18 11:25 AM

Dana I'm happy for you that your Bellyfit investment is reaping dividends for you. I can't wait to recover from my foot surgery and get back to it.

How is the sound quality of your DVD set? I have it from one of Mary's sales and Alice's instructions are barely audible. They gave me the digital version for free to compensate for it.

I have the same issue with my DVDs. Alice's voice is barely audible, but the music is great! After completing all episodes from BFTV, I'm OK with not being able to hear Alice's instructions because I'm already familiar with all the moves.

Pat58 02-11-18 12:43 PM

Thanks! Great idea to hang onto them for that.

I'm looking forward to Season 2 of Bellyfit TV. :)

i see that presale price is still up for Season 2. Does anyone know when it's being released, and is Alice releasing 1 episode at the time or all 12 at once?
I am soooo tempted to buy it. I like Season 1 and EG a lot!

Pat58 09-01-18 03:35 PM

Sherry inquired and was told that they're running late.

My recollection from when I purchased the presale is that the videos will be accessible as completed, so hopefully we can try episode 1 soon, at least.
