The Firm 20 Questions About Fitness

Hello, everyone. I am new here though I have lurked for awhile! I am, primarily, a Firm believer but mix in Jessica, Leslie, etc. Just started back with the classics trying to get back into shape at age 47. Boy, these were SO much easier in my 20's!! Ha! Anyways, I really wanted to view the 20 Questions about Fitness but could not find it on any DVD and I no longer owned my VHS copies. I found a video online that someone posted and thought I would share the link in case anyone else also wanted to watch this section again! Hope you enjoy! I know I did...what a blast from the past!!!:)

Welcome! Thanks for sharing that link! I actually think the FIRM is pretty perfect in your mid-40s, especially the videos that have more of a slow-and-heavy focus rather than high intensity cardio, as it's often recommended to focus a bit more on strength training as you age. I'm 45 and the FIRM (and similar and related series) have been my favorite way to work out for over 20 years. At this point, they all seem like old friends, and there's something about the emphasis on novel equipment and not doing any one move for too long that works with my attention span. :sun:

Welcome and thanks for the link! :sun:

I actually still own the "20 Questions" and the "FIRM: Form Pointers" VHS tapes. It's easier to watch online though than plug in the VCR player.

That's great!!! I use to own it back in the day but I think it is still relevant today! I was so happy to find it online so I watch it again!!

I remember when I bought my first Firm VHS which was Floor Legs I think, this program was tacked onto to the end, I watched it a lot. I think I picked up a VHS copy with the same program and converted to DVD, I still watch it once in a while. Fun blast from the past.

I always thought that Kay Doran was a good host for this too.

Surprisingly, I had never seen this before despite having done Firm workouts for 20 some years! So thanks for posting, Gemini, and welcome! I owned Vol. 6 on VHS back in the day and tried Volume 1 once, but the original 6 Firm workouts never appealed to me much. I was surprised in the video that the original tall box was 17 inches! Dang! I always thought 14 inches was the highest box used. And they initially recommended 3, 5, and 10 pound dumbbells for women instead of 3, 5, and 8 pounds recommended in later Firm workouts. There is lots of great information in the video. I already knew a lot of it, but it was fun to see the history of weight lifting and aerobics.
