Kettlebell Questions

What is the minimum number of swings, or pulls you have to do to have it considered an exercise day?

Reason I'm asking is I ordered a new KB and when I do Lauren DVD, I can get to the number she asks with my 10 pounder but can't do a TGU with 15. If I do on on each side with this heavy weight, is that considered doing the exercise?:confused::confused:

Since one rep is so difficult I would work with a lighter weight making sure your form is good first. Then add in one rep with the heavier bell once you can do a bunch with the 10lbs. When I first started I had a time minimum to consider having 'worked out'. It started at 10 min and went from there to 20 min.

I used to do 10 swings a minute (via Tracy Reifkind on the minute) rest till the next minute and get 100 swings in 10 min. I definitely considered that a workout. You can do more swings with less rest if you're conditioned.

Thank you. :). Those swings are all we need :). I think there are only 8 Real kB moves. Is this correct ?

Not exactly sure how many basic KB moves but the ones I use include
swings, deadlifts, windmill, TGU, Figure 8, Halo, Squats, cleans, rows and twists.

And, of course, all the variations of each ;)

how about snatches?

do you write your own programs?

how many days a week do you use them?

I have one wonky shoulder that gets irritated when I do snatches, so none of those for me. Occasionally will do high pulls but find everything is pretty well worked with all the other exercises.

Lately, been 1x or 2x weekly. Believe it or not, still trying to come back to full capacity from a broken wrist/arm.

I love swings and could do just those with all the variations.
But usually, I pick 3 exercises, one of which is the swing and find I am toast.

You will heal doing kbs. And it will be better.

I’m coming back from a long illness and since hen I have learned I like big movements that work the whole body. I’m studying a lot more of the proper way to do things, my right wrist is wonky. I hope it strengthens.

Thank you, Cheryl, and I wish all the best for your wrist to heal, too.
I really enjoy KB's and hope you find your right moves!

Did I tell you I bought a kettlebell king kB? I’m so excited. They give you a lot of info unlike what you get when you buy no name kB. I’m watching videos and explanations on the moves I have trouble with. Now to also learn how to program my Gymboss for today ❤️❤️❤️❤️
