Workout space flooring
Hello,
I recently moved and the new apartment appears to have laminate flooring. I’ve never had this type of floors before. Previously i’ve had floors with tiles or carpet. I usually get some puzzle mats for the workout space but this time I won’t be able to. I will be using my workout mat for some of the workouts, but i’m worried that with all that jumping and moving and weights falling might damage the floors. Do you have any recommendations on how to care for this type of flooring or what can i do to make sure it won’t get damaged by my exercising? Thanks! |
why are puzzle mats not an option?
I have laminate flooring in the room where I work out, and I have puzzle mats on the floor. it protects the floor and gives me enough cushion. |
I have laminate floor in my workout space and the only padding I use is a six foot round yoga mat. But I don’t use very heavy weights, my heaviest is a 15 lb KB. I’ve never had any problem with damage to the floor, good laminate is pretty indestructible.

There have been a lot of flooring discussions here in the past - I remember at one time, a lot of people were advocating stall mats (made for horse barns). Do people still use those?
I have carpet now, but did a P90X rotation in the basement on concrete floors. We bought a LOT of puzzle mats and covered the whole end of the basement in them, and that worked OK. |
Thank you for your answers. I can use puzzle mats like i used before, but right now the only place i have to workout is in the living room, and i just don’t want to keep them there. So I was thinking maybe just use my mat and remove it after i’m done.
