Ideas on mini mat?

I don't like unrolling my large yoga mat just to do brief floor work. I even considered cutting off part of it, but I'm sure I would make a mess of it.

My workout space has cement floor with carpet (no pad under it).

I guess the thickness/softness of a yoga mat is about right, but I am open to something different. I am looking for a mini mat that is just the size of my back. I was looking at knee pad mats (used for yoga and gardening), but I also saw the anti-fatigue mats that are used in the kitchen that might be a better size.

I have never seen either kind of mat in person, and will have to just order online. Would anyone have advice or a second opinion on this please?

It seems like Cathe uses a pad on the step when she uses it as a weight bench. I wonder if that would work for you? I don't know what kind of mat/pad it is though.

I know what you mean about wanting smthg like this. Rolling out a full size mat and then moving it out of the way during circuit workouts or when I'm stringing together multiple short workouts can be a real pain. My gym is so full I don't have room to leave a mat down and do anything else!

Would this mat size work?

I’d buy an inexpensive mat at Marshall’s or Walmart & cut it to the size I wanted. I did that with a mat to put under my step and used the rest of it under my headstand bench.

I have one of those kitchen anti-fatigue mats so I checked it out. The thickness is about half-way between a yoga mat and those gardening pads. Maybe a half-inch? Mine is the width of a double sink. I tried it out and it is enough, but just barely, to provide padding for my head all the way down to my bottom. I’m 5’7”. I think based on your description it would be suitable.

You are all so helpful! I had forgotten how encouraging it is to check in with other video fitness fans.

Thank you!

The cutting a long mat is a good tip!

I have the beachbody mini mat. Very thick (about 15mm) and about 3.5ft long. I use it more than my longer mat.

I use garden kneeling mats from Home Depot.

Here’s one from Walmart online:
