LOVE Kettlebell Strength But Not The Bulk

Hi everyone! It has been a really long while since I have been here on Video Fitness. I have a dilemma. I recently restarted Kettlebells with Lauren Brooks and within a month I have bulked enough that my usual slim fitting pants are tight everywhere!

I really love how strong I've quickly become with KB, especially core strength. However, I'm bulkier than I'd like, mainly because I don't want to buy new pants. I believe its the swings that are bulking my butt and waist. Is it possible to forgo the many repetitive swings and swing driven exercises or at least decrease the reps and still gain strength benefits without bulking? I'm only using 18 lbs.

Tonight I'm back to Callanetics...

Thanks in advance!

Just do the swing exercise without using any kettlebell at all. That's very similar to the Callanetics warm up swing. The swing is what makes you lose weight.

Could you alternate days with more stretching or body weight type workouts (like Tonique or Barre)? You don't say how many days a week you are doing kettlebells. Maybe you can do less days but still maintain strength with more stretching/body weight type workouts thrown into the mix.

I remember this from long ago....

How many swings are you doing? What weight? Maybe do some swings with a lower weight...

Thank you for responding! Probably doing kettlebells just 3x a week with a 18lb bell, using shut up and train.

I've lifted heavy/moderate for years prior, then then a lot of barre but over the past 5 years really cut back to doing more Kelly Coffee 30 minutes to fitness. I really don't have to do much to maintain muscle mass or definition. I'm tiny under 100 lbs. So a little butt and leg muscle makes my pants tight!

I'll probably cut back to twice a week and incorporate more barre, yoga and Essentrics.

Thanks for your thoughts!
