Care and cleaning of exercise bands and loops
 

HI all!

Does anyone have any recommendations for how to take care of exercise bands and loops?
Do you need to clean them? How do you store yours?

I have some of my bands hanging on the wall. I have my loops on a table covered with a towel to keep them out off the light.

I just broke an older band I hadn't used in a while. It looked ok but I think it was dry. Can you "moisturize" bands?

I think you're supposed to store the flat exercise bands in a zip lock with a bit of cornstarch. I store mine in a zip lock bag. I don't clean them :o.

I just have my tubing stored hanging in the closet. I need new tubing.

I had my tubes hanging on a rounded hook and the ones that were touching the hook got ruined. I don't know if it was from touching the hook, bc there were a number of other tubes over those or exactly what, but when I took them all off the hook and checked them my Cathe one snapped in two and a TaeBo one was just about too. My bands are just in a drawer of one of those plastic wheeled drawer tiers.

Wow, that would be a mess for me. I'm sure I would come out of my exercise room looking like a scene from I Love Lucy. :o

I do this, except I use baby powder.
the white powder seems to get absorbed by moisture and possibly the gases that are emitted from the rubber and plastic.

I live in a dry climate, so I just store mine in zip lock bags without any cornstarch, etc. The reason I started storing the bands in ziplocks was to slow down their drying out and than breaking.

Ahhhh, seems like the general consensus so far is to store them in zip lock bags. I can sure do that. Very dry here too, especially in winter.

Yep, I store flat bands (like Dynabands, Therabands, or loops) in ziplock bags.

The bands with handles, I just store them in a box on a shelf (together) but no baggies. So far, they've been fine but I bought the Bodylastics a few years back and they're still in great condition!
