Reiki - anyone here get treatments or is a Reiki practitioner?

The owner of my local yoga studio is a Reiki Master and is going to be conducting Reiki training. I've experienced a small amount of Reiki as part of a massage once or twice, and seem to recall that it at least "seemed" to make me feel better.

I'm wondering if I were to attend the trainings, if I could use this technique on my husband with all his aches and pains, and myself.

If anyone at VF knows more about Reiki I'd love to read your responses.

I'm a Reiki practitioner and use it in my massage practice.

The clients I provide Reiki to are almost always aware of it. I get comments like; "You're sending some serious BTUs out of those hands." "Where's that heat coming from?" Other clients have simply felt a sense of comfort.

I use Reiki pretty much on a daily basis between clients, family and pets. I feel lucky to have discovered and been trained in the technique.

You can find quite a bit of information about Reiki HERE.

I have gotten a few treatments in the past. Although the concept was a little bit weird for me, I always left feeling like a million bucks. You can't argue with that!

Back when I was in college, I did it regularly. A church offered it free a few times a month. I was taking a full load in the RN program. When I got mandatory vaccines, Hepatitis A and B along with the flu shot it caused terrible neurological symptoms.

The reki, kept me going. I could feel the energy going into me. Over time I was feeling better and better. It felt like my battery was being recharged. While it didn't reverse the health issues, I was able to do more with the regular sessions. Several people would either hold their hands above me or touch me in different areas. I could feel warmth, swirling, peacefulness. I would see different colors in my head. It was very pleasant.

I feel like reki, improved my health enough to continue and graduate from college.

Thank you for that link, Lanette. I think I may sign up for the training.

I am a Reiki practitioner and use my Master level training to primarily teach nurses and staff members at the hospital where I work so that they can use the techniques in their practice. I use the technique on myself, family, friends and patients.

As an RN, I was very skeptical going into my first class, but I soon had a light bulb moment when I realized that I had instinctually been doing something very similar for my entire nursing career! (Lannette and I talked about this a long time ago) It is a very simple and useful technique for fostering relaxation and aiding self-healing.

Lannette's link is very useful. Good luck in your studies.

Funny this came up. I recently started Tai Chi classes and the instructor is also a Reiki practitioner. He was telling me about it yesterday after class. There was a Reiki share last night at the yoga studio where he gave the Tai Chi classes but I did not attend. Maybe next time.

Thank you Jennifer R for sharing your experience with it. I reached out to the teacher. I have had such good experiences with Qigong that this seems a natural progression.
