I haven't been around *that* long, but that thread is nothing. You should see some of the old Tracy Anderson threads. Someone would lob a verbal grenade by starting a Tracy Anderson thread and it inevitably deteriorated at some point.

I just checked: "Total Posts: 2,696" and "Posts Per Day: 0.46." I don't have any specific goals for my total posts or my pace of posting; I simply want to post when I should post and refrain from posting when I should refrain.

In particular, I'm not thinking anything like "only 2,696 posts over 16 years--I should be posting more!" (I also don't miss ranking systems on other forums that can encourage and reward 2,700 mindless throwaway posts more than 270 thoughtful ones.)

If VF didn't feel comparatively sane, I don't know how often I'd be here. For example, it seems to me that most of the angriest members of the past have amended their ways or don't post anymore. Our "diet-free zone" has averted wars over the One True Diet and kept this forum from the worst of what people call "diet culture." (Long ago, I stopped reading comparable forums where the members spent considerable time getting their daily mood from the scale and wondering which foods we were demonizing today.)
