I added my dh with no trouble but I could not add anyone who lives at a different address.

We are all at the same address. My son is away at school but he uses home as his official Amazon address. He used to get prime for free as a student but I don't think they have it free for students anymore or it may be only for one year.

I don't know how it works, but my brother has all our extended family (one person from each extended family's household) on his Prime. He has done this for years. Maybe it's a business account. We all definitely use it. I always check Amazon for non-food/toiletry items before I go to a store, because (how ungirly of me) I hate shopping for the most part. I'll only go to a store if I need an item immediately or if it's significantly less expensive than Amazon (which is rare).

When I signed up, it was free for 6 months, but no free streaming. After that, it is half price, but you get the free streaming. You can only have Amazon student for 4 years even if you are in school longer.

My son got the free student trial for six months. His is ending this week, so I don't know if the free trial is still offered.

I debate on getting Prime, I am a student so I believe I would get use out of it but I don't want to end up spending a bunch of money that I initially didn't plan on because I have it. If that make any sense. I do spend at least $100 at Amazon per year so I believe it would pay for itself, but I think I need to think about it more.

I didn't have any problems adding my dad. I sent him an invite via email and he accepted, so he now has the Prime benefits.

I LOVE Amazon, and I LOVE Amazon Prime. Shipping is always lightening fast, be it UPS, FedEX, or USPS. The only hiccup was this last Christmas, but Amazon gave me a $20.00 gift certificate. I didn't even say anything. I received an email from them apologizing and the gift certificate.

Someone mentioned FedEx Smartpost. They don't ship FedEx Smartpost for Amazon Prime orders.

Taramisu, that is a very legit concern. I have found myself ordering too much due to it being such a great service.

I had Amazon Prime as a free trial and added my son, who is in another state in college. I know he ordered a desk chair to be delivered to his address and got the 2-day shipping. Once my trial ran out, I cancelled it. But I alerted him of the free 6-month trial membership for students. He's holding off enrolling until he needs something. Hope they don't change things in the meantime and he loses out.

I think right now they are saying that they could increase it up to $40 to see what kind of reaction they get. So that if they only raise it $25, people will be okay with it.

That's what the Post Office does with stamp prices.
