Well, I have until end of day today to decide, but I am considering not renewing, even though I am eligible for another year at $79. It's kind of a luxury item, and money is tight.
I started reading a book series for free from the Kindle lending library. There is a limit of one book per month, which I only noticed recently as I hadn't really taken advantage of this perk beyond one book per month. I think Amazon can afford to be more generous with this.
As for Prime streaming video. Angst! This is an even bigger issue for me as I recently cancelled most of my cable programming and so I rely heavily on Amazon streaming video. I can still buy content and stream, but I would no longer have access to the free stuff. The thing is, if some of the programs weren't free, I most likely wouldn't purchase them so it's hard to say if the free videos would pay for my membership.
I think in order to justify the $20 increase, Amazon should consider more incentives for Prime membership; more free Prime streaming content, more than one book a month to borrow on Kindle and I don't know what else would make it worth my while. Before Prime, I used free super saver shipping. Even with Prime, I still shopped other sites for the best price.
