Yes yoga does involve holding poses, but it also involves movement if it is vinyasa. And it also very much about mindfulness. Essentrics is dynamic movement. I think it’s what works best for your body & what you enjoy. You will do what you enjoy. I get benefits from both methods. I love Essentrics for the flowing circular movement. We so often move in linear patterns….walking, cycling, lifting weights. Yoga allows me to stretch deeper and I find it very relaxing. I only do gentle yoga, no sun salutations or acrobatics, lol. It’s definitely a personal choice and I love & need both to stay balanced & pain free. .

I have to agree with this - I tend to go in cycles - sometimes using CS more, sometimes Yoga more, and sometimes Pilates more.
Sometimes I do all three fairly equally!
I think ultimately finding what you enjoy doing and what makes you feel best at that moment in time is what you will stick with.
