Others that I subscribe to and love:
Dominique Sachse - TV news anchor, didn't care for her much at first, but I've grown to love her - she does a variety of videos - beauty, hair, style
Gothamista - is younger, probably in her '30's, but she's very knowledgeable about skin.
Caroline Hirons - English and an absolute blast. She knows a ton about skin and is coming out with a book soon.
Jordan Samuel - a former ballerina turned esthetician with his own skin care line.
Nerida Joy - superb facialist to the stars - with more than 40 years of experience. She's generally against most procedures, I believe. Her videos are geared mostly towards people in the industry. I just watch the ones that interest me.

I love Melissa55 - but I don't watch as many videos of hers as I used to. I don't care for vlogs and watching anything that is not going to benefit me in some way. I don't have time to waste. She's a sweetheart, but I want to spend my time learning something.
Stephanie Nicole - is young, very knowledgeable, also rubs some people the wrong way. I've only seen a few of her videos. She knows her stuff.
Dr. Sam Bunting - didn't like her at first, but I've seen a few more videos and she also knows her stuff.
Negin, Thanks for all the links!

I have been under so much stress lately that my skincare has fallen to the wayside. I want to start back up with a simple routine I can keep up. I am over 40 so need somewhat of an ‘anti-aging’ skincare routine. Can someone help me with a simple routine or if there are any YouTube channels. I do like using masks so incorporating that atleast once a week is good. Thanks!

I would choose products based on how dry or oily your skin is. I'm 62, but my skin is still on the oily side. Everyone needs a cleanser, a BHA or AHA exfoliant, an SPF moisturizer for daytime and a serum or moisturizer with antioxidants (and possibly retinol) for nighttime.

I think a Vitamin A product (Retin A, Adapalene or Retinol), a niacinimide serum and an AHA or BHA product are the most effective. And also the basics - cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen.

I have normal skin, and a fragrance allergy. Every other night, I use the Curology serum which contains tretinoin and niacinimide, followed by moisturizer. On the other nights I use The Ordinary Niacinimide serum and a moisturizer. Once a week, I use Paula's Choice 8% AHA. In the morning, I use the niacinimide, moisturizer and sunscreen. I have found that the more products I use, the more irritation I have in my skin.

Regarding You Tube channels, they try out so many products that it's hard to find one with a simple routine. But I like James Welch, Hiram, Dr Dray, and Frugalistablog. I like this video by Frugalistablog, which shows her current favorites.

Of the channels I have checked out, everyone seems to mention using niacinimide, which I have never used. The Ordinary has an inexpensive one so I think I will give it a try. I watched the video you linked and she mentions a brand available at Target (Versed) that is an inexpensive dupe for Drunk Elephant, so I'll have to check that out, too!

I haven't noticed a lessening of age spots, but it does seem to make my face brighter and smoother. The Inkey List at Sephora and Good Molecules on Beautylish also have affordable niacinimide. From comments people have made, they all seem to work similarly. Of course, I want to try them all, lol.

Any of the YouTube channels that I linked, as well as others mentioned before, Hot & Flashy, will give you lots of info.

Don’t spend lots of money on cleansers, toners, etc. Spend more on treatment products, treatment items, such as serums.

According to Hot and Flashy, the 5 Most Essential Skin Care Items for anti-aging are:
Sunscreen
Retin-A (Rx strength - start very slowly. If you need tips, I'll be happy to share)
Vitamin C
Niacinamide
AHA and BHA
Moisturizer with Peptides (as an extra bonus - peptides are like extra credit!)

The one by The Ordinary is the one I use and love.

[QUOTE=ToothSoap - not cheap (OK, pricey, but cheaper than dental work), but they have BOGOs and I stock up then. Nothing makes my teeth feel cleaner than these products (liquids, whips, gels, shreds). To help put this into perspective - I have deep crevices in my teeth so I have to be really mindful about brushing thoroughly. When I wake up in the morning, my teeth still feel clean and I never experienced anything like this with even expensive tooth pastes. And their Tooth Shreds are exactly what they sound like - shreds of dental soap. I would never travel without my Tooth Shreds as they're weightless and I try to avoid checking luggage whenever possible. toothsoap.com[/QUOTE]

Thanks for mentioning this -I bought & tried - for me there is a huge difference in how clean my teeth feel. I'm waiting for the BOGO to order more as you said they are are pricey. I also love the glass bottles as I am trying to cut back on plastic for the environment.

Agreed! And thanks to companies like The Ordinary, you don't even need to spend a ton of $$ on treatment products either!

I LOVE their 5% granactive retinoid serum in squalene, as well as their hyaluronic acid and "buffet" serum.

As far as cleansers and moisturizers, I follow the advice of Dr. Dray (on YouTube) and use Cerave Moisturizing Cleanser, Vanicream Lite for my daytime moisturizer (over TO hyaluronic acid and under SPF) and the thick Cetaphil Cream (in the tub, with the pump) over my nighttime treatments.

I did something today I thought I would never do. I trimmed my own hair! I was overdue for a haircut before the stay at home orders and I just couldn't take my hair anymore! I didn't trim a lot, but enough for me to make it to when I can eventually get to the salon. For reference, I have medium/long hair that is straight. I have long layers, but I didn't touch those I just trimmed the ends. I think I did okay, but I might have to have dh trim a bit in the back. I think Illinois is on track to have salons open in June, but I imagine it will be difficult to make an appointment right when they open.

Has anyone else given themselves a trim or a haircut during the shut down?
