There is a yellow jacket in my workout room **OLD THREAD REVIVAL**

I am going to miss working out in that room.

(does anybody know the average lifespan of a yellow jacket that is the size of a large hummingbird?)

Why, yes, I do answer to the name "Wuss."

... Sorry, Renda, but I can't help you with the yellow jacket. However, your misery is my laughter. Always enjoy your posts!

And here I thought you were just bragging up your spring wardrobe

Have you considered sending in the vacuum? A quick and dirty solution to your problem Or, if you have air-conditioning in the room, you could also get it pretty chilly in there (which slows them down considerably and may give you the edge).

If all else fails, cash in the right hands will get the job done. When I was a kid, my mom use to give me $5 to throw out spiders. I would have thrown out a rhino for $10 LOL

you should get a wasp catcher and put it in the room, I think most hardware stores sell them. You add in a small amount of juice, sugar and small piece of protein(l use a small piece of chicken) and boy, it really attracts bees, wasps, etc. once they get in, they can't get out.

As someone who is highly allergic to any stinging insect (think ambulance, picture ER) this is indeed a bad situation.

You can buy a pyrithren spray or bomb that is deadly to the yellow jacket and non-toxic to humans.

Good luck!

I suggested to my husband we get crime tape and block off the room for two weeks. He suggested I just get hair spray and immobilize it.

I suggested I wait until he gets home from work and let him wield the can.

I got stung by a yellow jacket last summer and my hand was swollen and painful at the site for a week. I didn't use to have a fear of them.

So, English Ivy, I got a 20 right here for the removal process . I understand your rates might be a bit higher now.

As another high allergic, swell-prone stinger-a-phobe, my vote it to create a stand-off situation. Shut the door...tight...and do not check on it again until tomorrow.

The wasp catcher sounds great. We have wasps outside in the detached garage, they don't seem to bother me or April, but if Hubby gets out there they go after him. They even built a nest in April's doghouse one year. This is the 3rd year and they seem immune to the wasp spray.

Inside the house I use a spray made of 1 part vinegar to 1 part water and that seems to work on most bugs, without getting all over everything.
