Even though I try to be careful and monitor my nutrition and recovery I still got overtrained recently and had to take over 3 weeks off from exercise. During that time I felt just awful and could barely get out of bed on some days. I'm finally getting back to working out regularly but my aerobic capacity has declined significantly. Strength seems ok.

I didn't read the article, as I think a lot of fitness articles are slanted and a bit fictitious. I think it's common sense. Exercise is important. Keep moving and exercise sensibly. Do what works for you. If you love cross fit type workouts and your body can handle it, good for you. If you prefer to walk several miles per day, good for you. Keep moving. Move more, eat less! That's been my motto for awhile now.
