I remember that Mia Finnegan show - Fitting It In was its title. I remember that the 2 people she cooked with were very INTENSE. And then she'd go into the "living room" and lift soup cans. Wacky!

I used to really like FitTV. I miss it. It was always a surprise what was coming on next...Jake, Tamilee's Tighter Assets, Petra on those scary sets. Then those little 10 minute info-thingys that finished the hour. I hated them. That was a weird little network, but I really liked it.

Richard Hittelman and "Happy"

Richard Hittelman's show was called "Yoga for Health." It was the first exercise program I did faithfully - every day after fifth grade. I was the youngest yogini in Queens, NY!

Also, one of Jack LaLanne's dogs was named "Happy" - he had two white shepards that would occasionally come join the fun, and Happy was definitely one's name. My Aunt Kate and I watched Jack regularly, occasionally joining the exercise. (Usually just because we had crushes on him!)

I remember another yoga show, that I used to watch when I lived in Rochester, NY, in the late 60's. The yogini was Mrs. Kathleen Hitchcock, & the show aired at 4 PM for about 15 minutes. I still have her book.

Another one, from Florida

...was called the Fran Carlton Show. This was back in the '70s. She had a blond beehive hairdo, wore "leotards" and did stuff like jumping jacks and toe touches to freaky organ music. She later went on to state government!
Oh, and it was in black and white!

Top this!

Anyone over the age of 40 originally from the Chicago area remember a show called "Exercise with Gloria"? It was on in the mid- to late-60s, black and white (of course) and was led by Gloria, a leotard-clad blonde. If you've seen the exercise scenes in the 1939 movie The Women, you'd have the general idea.

Joni--My seventh grade gym teacher made us do "Chicken Fat."

Linda Hamilton's roommate in...

The Terminator. You know, the one with the boyfriend?? She was an aerobics 'starlett' kinda back then. I never saw her show, but I'm sure that she had one.

She may have already been mentioned, but since I don't remember her name, I wouldn't have recognized it. Sorry.

I think it starts with a 'B', tho. Bess? Betsy? I dunno.

Wow, Gloria!

I'm having flashbacks to my early childhood (I'm 40 and grew up in Chicago.)
And didn't Ray Raynor do the Chicken Fat song from time to time on his show?

Gail--
I just about rolled off my balance ball when I read your post. I'd forgotten all about Ray Raynor.

Do you remember how popular Bozo's Circus was in the Chicago area? I remember that people would write in for tickets when their children were born so by the time the kids were 5 or 6, they could attend the live show.

I'm surprised someone hasn't come up with a cable channel devoted to old children's shows. If they can broadcast old episodes of The Newlywed Game and Family Feud, why not Captain Kangaroo?
