Crone Cronies - Not All Heroes Wear Capes. Some Wear Scrubs. April 5

The Cronies is a place for women who are mature in age or attitude. The group is highly diverse in that we have ages ranging from 30s to 60s, some are moms, some are single, some are teachers/professors, and some have jobs and work outside the home and some don’t. We do our own thing and are happy when life doesn’t get in the way too often. Some are training for a marathon, some don’t even do vids, you get the picture.

Life and exercise are what we report. A thread is started every Sunday. Some report every day, others whenever they can.

Bottom line: we are a diverse group and very supportive of each other’s goals. Oh, and we’re funny as heck. If you’d like to join us, just come on down.

It's Palm Sunday. It's been such a weird time that I had lost track of where were in the Easter season. We'll watch the church service on TV as per the new usual this morning.

Everyone have a good day.

Thanks for getting us started, Laura! I like your theme!

Planning on making a grocery run, getting Gus a good walk, and putzing around my yard. It's too early to do much in the yard - no raking, no digging, but I can clean up the water feature and maybe get it started this afternoon.

Dede, I wish the i-meetings would work with a blank screen on my end so I wouldn't project whatever was going on in my house when the meeting takes place. I've been wearing my mask at WRC only, but will be starting to wear it when at the grocery store. I'm still not wearing it at the park with Gus.

Laura, despite sitting at home, we really can't start doing stuff outside in the garden with the plants until May - welcome to the cold North!

Paula, hope DH's stones pass easily and quickly! Our garden centers are open - got my pond filter material yesterday. The week is just feeling so weird - I have to think what day of the week it now is...

Waves to all (from >6 foot distance!)!

Good evening. DH and I did a walk this morning, other than that, no workout today. It was overcast, cool, and threatened to rain today. BV (before virus) we probably would have done lunch and a movie.

Laura, thanks for getting us started, good theme too. Some heros do wear scrubs. Friday morning early DH's doctor called him to go over his test personally. I was impresed, thought given how busy all the docs are DH would be luckly to get an email. I was surprised to learn today was Palm Sunday too - caught me by surprise.

Anita, we need to do a grocery run too. Probably will do that tomorrow we plan to wear our masks at the grocery too. We didn't wear them for our walk this morning but we didn't get near any other people. I probably should do some yard work but can't work up the interest. Started getting fabric ready for the next quilt - that I can do inside.

Good morning!

Planning on cleaning up my back patios as I've got a hose attached and working now. I did get the pond going yesterday . Otherwise planning on giving Gus a nice walk in a park. I'm trying to figure out whether to try to get my driveway redone now (hopefully) vs holding off until after I finish and recover from my hip replacement surgery.

Laura, besides the Palm Sunday, I'm having a hard time telling what day of the week I'm on - now that I only have one day a week with an appointment (Friday at WRC), hard to tell a Sunday from a Tuesday from a Thursday or Wednesday...

Paula, It's hard to tell how many doctors are very overwhelmed with patients with the virus - I see so many specialists that are now twiddling their thumbs as their patients aren't even coming in to clinics. I don't think they are getting assigned to emergency room or infectious disease areas of the hospital. I see a lot of fabric stores remaining open so your quilt materials will be easy to get at least.

Waves to all (from >6 foot distance!)!

It's another beautiful day here, although we are supposed to get rain tonight. I did a video workout. I discovered 3 Jessica Smith DVDs I hadn't opened. It was surprising because I rarely have unopened DVDs. Anyway, I did Burn Fat and Have Fun, the step workout. I did the circuit workout last week. I like this DVD at an emotional level - something I hadn't felt for her other DVDs.

I"m off to film some YouTube videos.

Anita - Yeah, I have that exact problem. One task I have to do every day is to figure out what day it is. You continue to get stuff done around the house. Good job.

Paula - I hope that you get engaged with making a new quilt. I"m impressed by that doctor and how he handled telling your DH the news.

Good evening. Workout this morning was Jessica Smith's Chair Cardio followed by a combo of my PT routine and Strong Women/Strong Bones.

We ventured to the grocery market. They were metering people in. We didn't have a long wait. Got enough stuff that hopefully we don't have to brave a grocery again for at least a week. We wore masks, the only problem I had is it fogs up my glasses.

Anita, if you choose to get your driveway done soon, how does that work - are those guys working during the shutdown? I don't know what DH's doctor is doing now, but DH said he sounded rushed and tired, so I guess he's still working. I didn't know fabric stores were open, I'll have to check that out.

Laura, glad you had a beautiful day - it's rained all day here. I'm not going to complain because we need it. What fun to discover 3 unopened exercise DVD's. I am working on a new quilt sort of. So far I'v chosen the material, washed and starched it. Now I usually just look at the fabric and let a design come on it's own. Hope you had a productive day of filming.

Good morning!

Planning on putzing and walking Gus - hope to spray wash the back deck today - might hit 70 degrees today! Oh, and yay! I still fit into my summer pants - thought I'd gained too much weight for that...

Laura, I've got several movie DVDs that I haven't unwrapped in ten plus years - wondering if I should force myself to watch the movies or just put them in the charity pile wrapped in plastic. Good luck filming!

Paula, I did do a grocery store yesterday - I wore a mask - no metering here, but traffic was lighter inside. I'm not sure if the asphalt guys are working yet - might be just the start of their season - it's later than the concrete guys. I think construction crews are certainly working on the roads, so I hope the driveway could get done.

Waves to all (from >6 foot distance!)!

Good afternoon, ladies. Today I did a Virtual Active DVD and I'm getting ready to do a little YouTube yoga. Yesterday I did a premix from Step Sync.

DH and DS don't like the masks I got. DH says he can't keep his on his nose. That's probably because he doesn't have a nose. I don't know how he keeps his glasses up. DS, on the other hand, inherited his nose from my side of the family. He also has a long jaw (I might have mentioned his open bite) and the mask pulls on his ears. I was going to order an XL one for him, but they currently aren't letting you choose the fabric. I know he would hate it if they sent us one with an American flag on it. So I'm waiting for a while to see if they go back to letting you choose the design you want. I've looked on Etsy, but most of them aren't really any cheaper than the ones I bought, especially once you include shipping.

I have figured out a way to keep from steaming up my glasses when I wear the mask. If I push my glasses down my nose a bit and set them on the mask, it almost eliminates the problem. I'll probably look silly, but I don't know if I can stand that stupid thing for very long. It will be especially awful this summer when it gets hot. I don't know how those doctors and nurses stand these things day after day.

I will probably try to go out early tomorrow. I read that some stores are beginning to limit how many people can go in at one time, and I don't want to stand outside in the heat waiting.

The workers have dismantled the deck. They found a body, but we can't figure out what it is. It had sharp teeth, and it looks like it was pretty furry. We have no idea how long it has been dead. I'm thinking a long time since the skeleton was so clear, but DH thought maybe not so long. It was kind of fascinating and gross at the same time.

Anita, I believe I had a blank screen during the Zoom meeting because I accessed it on my computer and I have my camera turned off. I saw a black square with my name on it, so I assume no one could see me. I hope not because it was a serious meeting and I was laughing at that one woman.

We have scattered storms in the forecast, but so far we've had sunshine.

Everyone have a great (and safe) day.

I was up at 4:00 am, so I took a nap later in the morning. I had my infusion this afternoon, which was good. So, I haven't moved around much today. We did get a load of laundry done (mostly DH ) and a few small things done. It was another beautiful day here. Apparently, this string of beautiful days will end at the end of this week, but I'm going to enjoy it for as long as it lasts.

Paula - I haven't worn the mask out, but the only place I've gone in quite a while is the infusion and they had it set up so I only had contact with the nurse and she hooked and unhooked me up faster and with less contact than I've ever seen. I have a feeling my glasses are going to fog up given the reports in here. But then, we're trying to ride out with the groceries we have for as long as possible. We usually have a pretty good stock laid in, so we can go for a while.

Anita - Woo hoo! However warm it go there, I hope you enjoyed today. It's a whole lot better than ice. I'd just donate the movies. i did that myself the other day. I figured if i hadn't watched them by now, I probably won't. And, if I ever want to, I can probably find them on a streaming service.

Dede - It sounds like a gruesome adventure you had with that body. If it was newer, wouldn't it have smelled something fierce?
