Another question...
I have the book and keep meaning to try them. Do you have to do them first thing in the morning? I'm barely human until I have my cuppa tea.
I read that some incorporate them into their workouts. I could handle that.

I will try to get back into them again this week. Last week I only did them once. I was up to eleven reps when I fell off. So I guess I was going them for a little over a month (wait...does math in head...5 + 7 + 9 + 11) before I fell off. Oh - details, details: I learned them at a workshop about 4 years ago, maybe? And then a few years after that, we used them everyday to start yoga class. Hated them. Some VFers here - Deana, I think? Jacqi, Alta - brought them up in other threads and I thought I'd give them a try again. They're a nice morning warm-up before doing more yoga. I am not a morning person, or a morning exerciser, so that's my main challenge for me right now. I'm actually enjoying them this time around.

Alta has the best Tibetan rite links, including one to a handheld version
Also, someone on the check-in mentioned that the Tibetan Rites were mentioned in some fitness/glam magazine...Self? Shape? Something like that?

Ann, I've been doing them for the last 5 weeks & am up to 13 repetitions. This is the 3rd time I'm doing them, I've had the book for a couple of years. It's a bit hard to quantify results, I do feel more energetic, & stronger.
The other 2 times I was happy with how I felt but they were very hard on my wrists (I have weak wrists but no chronic problems). This time, I did rite #4 on my knuckles from the beginning, but broke down a few days ago & bought pushup bars. Doing both rites #4 & #5 on the pushup bars make them far more comfortable & wrist friendly. The other logistic problem that made me stop last time is that when I got up to the full 21 reps of each & the weather heated up (note my address ), I wanted a shower after doing them which doesn't always fit my schedule. Alta, I do them 1st thing in the morning because they tend to disturb my sleep if I do them later in the day, but there is no reason not to do them at the begininng of your workouts (at least that solves the shower problem!). |
