I am another person who NEEDS exercise in order to motivate myself to eat well (which is why I panic when I'm injured!). It's nice to hear I'm not alone. It's a lot easier for me to motivate myself to work out... and the better eating follows almost naturally. I've read that consistent exercise helps regulate hunger hormones over time. So maybe that's why it works for so many of us!

I went through several expensive blenders that I wasn't satisfied with, did a ton of research, and found an Oster blender at Target for less than $30 that I'm very happy with. My smoothies are super-simple (frozen fruit + water + protein powder), and other blenders wouldn't crush the frozen fruit right (but I am stupidly picky about texture. YMMV!). You can also get single-serving blenders (Ninja makes some). So you have lots of options, price- and storage-wise! (A small Ninja is actually really nice--with the food-processor style blades, they're good for more than just blending: nut butters, chopping veggies, making sauces. I kept my smallest Ninja when I got the Oster, because I like having it on hand for jobs like that. I just decided, after a couple years of Ninja smoothies, that I wanted a smoothie-only traditional blender. )

moderate no-low-dread exercise helps me eat better - I think it eases the stress and is something positive - just starting back and feeling tightness in my t highs/booty (not pain though LOL) is a good feeling and positive - motivates me. plus I feel thirsty so seem to crave fruits and water. I still don't have the diet under control but I"m trying to find a happy medium. plus the exercise is good for my blood pressure and my blood sugar has been up (not diabetic at least Ihope not) but I need to work on the numbers esp the triglycerides...I think working on not being so all or nothing will help me - a couple of years ago I was 'all' then 'nothing' in spite of this but so far this past month I've restarted I seem to miss a few days then get back to it and so far It hink 45 min has been my record length with 7 min qi gong my shortest but all have been nice and suited my mood and/or time frame and any is better than none

Clinically obese. Yep. I think if I had normal sized boobs, I probably wouldn't be in the obese category. I'm a 38GG, yes, I did mean to type the G twice. I'm just a few pounds in the obese category so going to 38D would probably do it.

But I would still be overweight as I have a belly on me. And like so many of you, I find when I workout, I want to eat better. Nothing like a hard Crossfit workout to make you want to eat clean to get the best results. Why workout so hard, if you are gonna just eat crap and have nothing to show for it.

yeah... me too

I find I have enough will power to either exercise consistently OR keep an eye on what I eat.
not both

If I try I fail miserably at both

I find that if I stick to regular exercise I won't necessarily drop pounds BUT I feel better, I move better and all my blood work looks good.

so I'll take it!

I also find it vastly amusing when people underestimate what a lady of my size can do

I am clinically obese too, though most people don't believe I weigh as much as I do as my weight is distributed evenly and my shape disguises it pretty well (enhanced by some muscle from years of strength exercise, which certainly helps). But yes, I am.

I haven't been around here as much b/c I've been pulling back from the whole exercise AP thing that's obsessed me for the past few years. I will readily agree with Sunday and others here that, yes it really *is* all about the food (for me anyway). I'm concentrating on my diet and correcting my food addictions. Adding in exercise I like for the joy of it is icing on the cake, but it's not my focus any more.

I get that too. My doctor says I have a high muscle to fat ratio, my good cholesterol is GREAT, good blood pressure, I can do a stress test and my HR goes right back down when I stop. Even told me once he had a hard time feeling my organs through my abs because they were so tight.

So I just try to stay as strong and healthy as I can. We cut our own wood for heat and I HAVE to be able to do many physical things as my husband is much older than I am and slowing down.

I love having hard muscles even if they are bigger (and mostly covered with fat). When I see definition I get all excited. But I try not to watch the scale and TRY to watch what I eat but it doesn't always work out that way.
If only.............if only I could just drop 40 lbs I'd be happier with myself.

Good for you Gina! I really have to concentrate on diet and not workouts, though I DO workout regularly for health and shape. I am opposite of those here. When I eat slim, I want to work out. Exercise does not inspire me to eat well. Exercise really has been the icing on the cake for me too.

Thanks Deana!
I've found the bolded section of your quote to be true for me as well. If not I would've successfully slimmed down *years* ago.
I, too, exercise often. But for weight loss it's no longer my focus at all. The good news is this mindset's released me from any pressure of doing workouts that aren't 100% fun, even if others might think they're too light or not challenging/serious enough.

Yeah!! I, too, have moved on to doing only what I want rather than what I *should.* I actually started out that way, then slowly fell into the trap of, well, I *should* do cardio x times a week, then strength training, then blah blah blah. Nope! Now I just do the light fusion stuff I want and yoga.
