Hey folks, nice job everyone. A good start to 2024 in decluttering our lives!

It's a good idea, especially if the email has attachments. Photos, etc. take up a lot of room on a hard drive!

Oh, I know, it just always feels like I'm wasting time! I should really do some each day before I ACTUALLY waste time playing games on my phone! I got notification that my account was 80% full so figured it was way past time to tackle it. Maybe they were just trying to get me to buy more space but whatever the reason, I know I'm a horrible email hoarder!

Today I am tackling going through my cookbooks and deciding which ones to donate. I have an absolutely ridiculous amount of them and I am never going to make all these recipes. I already have decided to get rid of twelve of them, and I'm not even done yet! Books of all kinds are definitely my weakness. Sadly, a lot of them are in brand new condition. I know I could try to sell them, but it's not worth the bother. Somebody else will enjoy them.

Way to go Vannie on all those emails!

My approach has been 20 min. a day...so far also deleting emails and unsubscribing to a lot. I also am going through my "friends" list on facebook. I have a lot of horse connected friends that I don't actually know except horse people tend to find each other. Many of those accounts are no longer active or really don't post anything of interest so letting them go. My playlists for exercises on youtube are constantly being revised so I've been working on getting rid of the ones I no longer do. I've been going through a lot of files and paperwork and have made progess but so much more to do. Surprisingly, DH got rid of lots of paperwork and magazines from our coffee table. I have no advice on motivating spouses to declutter. I think DH got motivated from trying to find some info and couldn't through the clutter. It may not happen again for quite sometime so I'll just be glad for that. I'm hoping at some point to get into larger items to declutter vs paper and virtual, but haven't gotten there yet. Way to go on everyone's success!

Week 1 of the basement overhaul = success! Having a schedule is the key for us, and a time limit. Plus, we have weekends off, mostly because we like to go to our grandkid's sporting events, but also so we don't burn out.
Yesterday we bought a new shelving unit to replace an old one and today we put it together. We are all set to start again tomorrow!

Vantreesta - I used to fall way behind on my e-mails. Then I put it on my daily 'to do' list and now it has become habit. You did inspire me to go through and unsubscribe from a bunch today!

I managed to post a few things on ebay this year and managed to sell an old microcassette recorded today. So less for the trash and a few bucks for me!

started a new box for thredup that I'll send in when it's spring - they seem to care about seasonality of clothes again. My current box - they took less but I'll net around $65 which is about as much as I've ever made.

great job to everyone - we've been cold and horse care as eaten up my time and energy!

I have been going through my make-up drawer. Tossing expired items and replacing favorites. Organizing things.

I don't wear much make-up. I do have a thing for lipsticks though...

Week 2 of the basement clean out = still going strong! Increased our timer from 20 to 30 minutes. The area that is finished looks great, which in turn helps motivate us to continue. The problem right now is deciding what to do with the things we don't want. We have a lot of old tools from my dad, including wood carving tools. It's not the type of thing I want to take to Goodwill, but if none of our kids want them, we're stumped.

Lili, I've heard of people using Facebook marketplace to find new homes for things. I don't do Facebook so no idea how it works but maybe that's an option?
