total gym vs treadmill

Hi,

I'm debating between a total gym vs treadmill. I had a treadmill before and like using it. I'm thinking about purchasing a total gym from Costco this time. I've lost a lot of muscle mass with the two babies from the last 8 years.

Anyone has any experience with a total gym? Would you buy it again?

Thanks,

Anne

I loved my Total Gym but I missed doing video workouts so I finally gave it away. I use a treadmill now at the gym, but still do Leslie at home and Cathe et al. for strength.

One thing about the TG, a lot of changing the machinery for different moves.

My results are probably not typical, but using the total gym made me nauseous. I really wanted to love it but I ended up sending it back. I am prone to motion sickness so I guess it makes a little sense, but I really didn’t expect it. It even made my husband a little “sea sick”.

I found the same thing with my Aeropilates machine, when I was lying down on it and using the rebounder, it made me feel dizzy and nauseous at times too.

Surprisingly the rebounder does not make me dizzy.

The total gym is strength training. The treadmill is cardio. Which do you want most? I have a total gym and love it.

The Total Gym can be used for cardio/strength as I recall from the infomercials.

^2.

it's possible to get an aerobic effect during strength moves, however, you'd need to monitor your HR to see whether it makes an impact for you since YMMV.

I like the TG - I get DOMS from it.
