I'm surprised no one has mentioned this one, which is my new favorite from Charlene Prickett's It Figures series. It's so much easier than all the others:
Sit on the floor with your legs bent so that left sides of both calves rest on the floor and your knees will be facing to the left and your feet to the right. Your left foot will touch your right knee. Then lean to the left and slightly back on your left forearm until you feel the quad stretch. Switch position to stretch the other leg. No knee strain or balance problems this way.
