Mine has slight cut outs near the arm region --I'm happy about that as it never gets in the way of my bench press. I purchased it off Karen Voight's site many years ago and have used it regularly. Except for a few kitty nibbles and claw punctures, it is no worse for the wear. Paid for itself many times over, much like the club step ($6.50 for full step and risers at the thrift).

I made a homemade version with worn yoga mats. I cut three to the shape of my step. I use my version at least once a week.
