I’ve gotten into audio books, have one on when I’m puttering around the house, cooking, doing laundry, jumping on my rebounder. My library has a good selection. I’ve gotten into lighter reads, seems to be what I need right now. I am on a Robyn Carr kick, just finished the third one in her Thunder Point series.

I am almost Froi of the Exiles by Melina Marchetta. At first, it was confusing, but still good. I hung in there and it turned out to be a great book.

I'm also reading Rescue at Los Banos by Bruce Henderson, a non-fiction book about an amazing prisoner rescue during World War II. I'm really enjoying it.

I read When We Were Young and Brave by Hazel Gaynor. It was novel based on real-life stories of a school for kids of missionaries and diplomats in China during World War II and what happened to them after the Japanese took over the area. It was a very good book. Just be aware it was a faith-based novel.

Yes! If there were more I would read those too, although 3 was probably a good place to stop.

After starting and stopping several books, I'm finally getting into Casting Spells by Barbara Bretton, an older romantic mystery set in a magical knitting shop. I haven't read Ms. Bretton since her time travel romances of the early 90's, but this is hitting the right cozy/goofy notes right now.

I finished The Vine of Desire (not as good as the first book). I picked up The Husband's Secret from the library based on recommendations here.

My fave series. It goes to some dark places, but man. It hits the heart.

Lately I've read a few cookbooks:

America's Test Kitchen's Cooking for One

Dessert Person by Claire Saffitz

With the ATK cookbook, I mostly copied out some baking for one ideas. Just today I tried the apple crisp, but I baked mine in the oven instead of doing the whole thing in the microwave. Was very tasty.

A few days ago I tried a seasoned popcorn, but I didn't like it much. It was a cinnamon sugar version, and I just wasn't wild about it. The recipe as written is a paper bag in the microwave thing, but I popped my corn in a pan on the stove top, using more oil than the microwave version called for. Wonder if that was part of the trouble?

I'm still working my way through Dessert Person. It's an interesting read, just to see her thoughts and ideas. Some are too elaborate for one, but some seem very doable and intriguing.

In terms of novels, I've recently begun re-reading Charles Finch's A Beautiful Blue Death. He's got a new book out (An Extravagant Death) but I'm determined to wait for it to get to the library instead of buying my own copy.
