Still just hoping. I'm going by what you heard last month, that it was supposed to be out nowish (apparently in Jill terms the -ish is in months...).

Juna and Joni, thank you both for the feedback. I'm leaning more and more toward the philosophy that as much as I love videos, and prefer them for yoga practices, when it comes to restorative poses the best way to go is some personal instruction and then using guidelines from books.

I did the 45 minute practice yesterday and loved it. I don't preview, so may have missed any of the wide angles to close ups that were mentioned on the 1 hour practice.

On the 45 minute one it was just her, outside in a beautiful setting. A couple of moves I did find awkward but just pulled out the blanket and modified.

It does have a homemade feel to it, but I enjoyed it, and felt wonderfully relaxed by the end.

I tried the 45 minute practice, too. The filming is better, but many of the poses are the same. The awkward poses for me are the same as those in the longer practice: frog, then frog layered with bow, then frog layered with sphinx.

I disliked the music in the shorter practice--new-agey chords held ad infinitum.

I don't regret buying the DVD. I'll probably use it occasionally because I like the opening sequence in both practices: supine hip openers. I usually start my own routines with these, but sometimes it's nice to be walked through it. And of course I like being able to support teachers in a small way by purchasing their media.

I agree with Pat though. I haven't gotten a lot of mileage out of restorative DVDs (except for Benagh's sequences). I prefer working with books, but these days I need the extra nudge provided by videos. There are no restorative classes in town (yet), and I'm terrible at making it to any kind of class anyway.

Thank you Terri and Juna. I'm glad you don't regret getting them, but since my yoga shelves are rather full already, including with a number of gentle and restorative type practices that I use to varying degrees (I agree that it's somewhat counterintuitive to use media for restorative practices, and I haven't found many besides Barbara that I truly like), I think I'll pass for now.
