Every day in MARCH - feeling the change? in fitness AND season!!

THEME: Progress & Personal bests; and the hands holding March => we hold each other up.

Welcome to the Every Day Checkin!
We are a small group who aim to do some form of physical activity every day, whatever that means for YOU (but don't kid yourself about it either)

We're all making small improvements EVERY DAY in whatever our personal focus is. ANY progress is moving in the right direction! Go US!!!

NEWCOMERS, RETURNERS, LURKERS,... might as well say:
EVERYONE
is WELCOME!

Daily posts - not mandatory, nor even "sternly preferred" - but we love it if you do.
Weekly posts, drive-by notes, daily essays all about you.... any of those are perfectly fine - no pressure, EXCEPT to diligently try to add serious movement to your day - every day.

Lexicon:
WERD = Well Earned Rest Day, but even rest days can include movement
TERD = Totally Expected Rest Day, though not especially well-earned, like a planned happy event
TURD = Totally Unexpected Rest Day, hopefully also a happy event
HERD = of TURDS - usually declared after the THIRD TURD in a row. Try to avoid these at all costs, as they can move in & get comfortable, getting OUT of your comfort zone is the way to make change happen

Once again, thank you Helen for starting us off for the month!
To answer your earlier question, I do find potting plants very satisfying! I'm separating some and taking cuttings of others. They are long over due, as my last major repotting happened the summer after I retired, 3 years ago! And my orchids haven't been repotted since before that! It's a slow process, but they look so much better.

3/1 - dog walk

On a break at work, and have after-work meeting so I'm taking my time back!

Monday
no log with me, but...
Next Adriene, of course.
Buddy didn't want to work hard as the day was hot & very humid - sticky/drippy.
We did 2x Gilad - Best of Bodies in Motion (42min)
and a short dog walk, just for 'the essentials' - she wasn't keen due to the weather either - even though it was 9pm.
She prefers A/c on the couch.

LILI
It's my cacti that I hesitate to repot as it's a bit hard with the spines, but when they're done - they flower!
I have some orchids, but the easier kind - nothing fussy that need daily misting or the like. Mother was rough with that job - rough as guts! Couldn't stand being with her doing it - I almost cried for the plants.

Hey! Just a few years ago - who would've thought that we'd FORGET to mention truly making every day?!
We're killing it!

Need my arrow for March

So here I am. Not much time.

3/1/2021: Power Zone MAX ride 45 mins. (Matt), 5 mins. cool down ride with Denis, 5 mins. post ride stretch, 10 mins. core with Matty.

Done! and done! This was the same max ride I did back in Dec. I am slightly better (wattage, etc.) But I'm still not redoing my FTP test lol. I'm fine where I'm at.

Helen:
yep! 100 squats. I don't mind them, knees (knock on wood) are not talking to me and I seem to be doing fine with the leg work they offer on Peloton. I surely wouldn't want to do that workout too often though and as I said, I did a lot of substitutions on them! I know my limits.

A little of this and that:

Repotting plants? nope. Don't even have any plants. Afraid the cats would eat them and it's one more thing I'd have to take care of. Not for me. dh does all the gardening.

Longer days are here and the time changes in 1.5 weeks. I'm so looking forward toi t. Things are looking a little cheerier. Can't believe we're just about at the 1 year mark of the pandemic. I still shake my head cuz who would have thought? (Well, obviously many people - just not me!) I am still saddened by it all.

That's it for me.
Waves to all.
Gotta run.

Helen - my orchids are mostly from warehouse stores, so if they don't make it, I'm not devastated. Having my basement shelves in front of a sliding glass door gives me a place to keep them when not in bloom. Cacti are tricky to transplant! I haven't had any in years, but I remember when I did!
Cleda - I hear you on the longer days! It makes me happier, along with any sunshine we can muster. The garden is my happy place, so I can't wait to get back out there. Meanwhile, house plants fill the void.

We have all made it every day this year! I never would have thought that I could do it!
Will be back to post a workout.

Of course we did! and we're going to CONTINUE!!!! Cuz we are all ROCK STARS!!!

And if we falter? well, at least we are trying and we are leaps and bounds above our "old(er?)" selves!!! Just like Helen's Tag Line says: Those who CAN exercise well into their elder years often say "I just never stopped doing it, every day." So we continue.

Pam: I sigh out loud when I read "hip openers" in your check ins. Feels so good. (So maybe there is hope for me yet?)

Waves to all!

Here's yesterday (a light day - I was tired).

3/2/2021: Row 30 minutes
(sweat with two instructors**) followed by a 5 minute cool down and 10 minutes abs with Ben

My abs are getting MUCH stronger. I'm pleased with my progress.

** the row? Wasn't thrilled with it. (GASP!) I didn't like the format of 2 rowers. They were not in sync, but rather I could follow whichever one I wanted. One was rowing faster and one was using power and rowing slower. Just didn't do it for me. BUT - I still completed the whole thing.

On to a new day, a new workout.
Make it a great day!

3/2 - dog walk
30 Min. Power Zone Endurance Pop Ride w/ Olivia
GHU Interval Walk Express
3/3 - We spent the morning at Longwood Gardens, lots of walking!
Barre3 Cardio Focus w/ Jordan
dog walk

The weather here has greatly improved, so we decided to take advantage of it by walking around Longwood. It was also nice to walk through their large conservatory and check out all the plants. With all of my repotting, there have also been a few purchases, and it was nice to check out new varieties to look for in the future.

March 3:
~Taught Essentrics on zoom
~Neighbourhood walk
~20 min rebounding - hooked on an audiobook
~Reclined & seated yoga stretches while listening to my audiobook.....forward bends, deep hip openers, twists, chest openers

Lili - Your walk sounds lovely! I can’t say that I find a significant difference between the cardio focused & the strength focused Barre3 workouts.

Cleda - Those hip openers do feel pretty good!

Waves to all!
