Leslie Sansone on dvd

Hi everyone

With some new stuff and re-releases out now by Leslie, I thought it might be good to have a thread where we list all of her dvds. I'll start by listing the ones I know of (and if anyone adds any to this thread I will edit my post so the whole list will be right up top) and then I will comment on which ones I think are essential.

1) Older Re-Releases (Walk Aerobics)

These are older Leslie Sansone workouts that are being released on dvd. These pre-date her "Walk Away the Pounds" system.

Miracle Mile (1-mile)
Two-Mile Walk (2-mile, obviously)
Fat-Burning Walk (4-mile)
Deluxe Fat-Burning Walk (2-mile AND 4-mile with toning section)
Weight Loss Walk
Walk & Firm Fat-Burner (toning and walking intervals)
40-Plus Walk

These dvds are also older titles and only available through the Jenny Craig site:

The Brisk Walk (2 miles)
The Strength Walk (20 minutes walking, 20 minutes toning)

2) Older Re-Releases (Toning)

Firm Up Fast
Firm Off Weight

3) Walk Away the Pounds

Original (1&2 mile disk, 3-mile disk, uses weighted balls)
Walk Away the Pounds for Abs (1&2 mile disk, 3-mile disk, uses ab belt)
Walk Away the Pounds Express (1&2 mile disk, 3-mile disk, uses band)
Walk Away the Pounds Express 4-Mile (uses band)
Walk Strong (walking and toning intervals using stretchie band)
Walk the Walk (Christian-themed)

Goodtimes has also released these add-ons on DVD, but they are rare and hard to find (except for the ones marked * which are now re-released as part of the Power series and freely available retail):

Morning Mile Plus Abs
Evening Mile Plus Legs
Power Mile"
30 Minute Walk
Walk Away Your Stress
Walk & Kick*
Walk & Jog*
Muscle Mile One
Yoga Walk

4) Newer Toning

You Can do It Pilates
You Can do It Abs
You Can do It Yoga
Shortcuts Series (one dvd)

5) Walkblaster Series (using the ramp)

Slim & Thin
Shape & Firm
Sculpt & Burn

6) Power Series Re-Releases

Walk & Kick
Walk & Jog
Power Mile

Now, my comments:

GROUP 1: These older workouts have some value for the Leslie fan. 2-Mile Walk is very well-regarded and features a greater variety of moves than Leslie's somewhat simplified newer stuff. It is also not that dated looking. Also, there are a few four-mile choices here which might interest some people. Of this group. I only have 2-Mile Walk but might get the Deluxe one.

GROUP 2: These workouts were described in VF reviews as very basic. The first one got a good review which described one set of 15 or so per exercise. The second one was described as mostly leg lifts. I have not seen either of these, but given their reviews and the age of these, I would say a beginenr has plenty of better choices now.

GROUP 3: I like all of these and have all of the 1&2 mile disks. I would recommend any of them. Youc an modify the equipment quite easily and I have found that if I am already warmed up, I can keep my heart rate in my zone by keeping my arm movements big.

GROUP 4: I have not tried any of these. I did used to have Leslie's Yoga Walk vhs and did not much care for it. I enjoy her for the walking and would not really consider her a contender for other things.

GROUP 5: I have seen these positively reviewed. However, I have major reservations about kits like this that require you to pay big bucks for a bulky piece of equipment that you might not be able to use with other things. An extra few dollars for weighted balls or a stretchie band is one thing, but this ramp thing is massive. I think it was a mistake for Leslie to go this route. BUT---I have seen these workouts get good reviews and there are other ramping workouts on the market so it it your call. My call is no

GROUP 6: Excellent routines I remember from their vhs days. I would heartily recommend any of these. I bought all but Power Mile because a mile is just too short for me.

If I were starting from scratch, I would get these 5:

- 2-Mile Walk, for the greater variety of moves in the older series
- Any of the Walk Away the Pounds 1&2 Mile or 3-mile disks
- Walk & Kick
- Walk & Jog
- One longer 4-mile

So, any dvds I missed? Anyone want to comment on what they think are the essentials?

Joanna, thanks for the research! I have another one, the "Power Walking System" DVD. I has the "3 Mile Power Walk" (with the weighted gloves) and "Power Firm" (a lower body toning segment). Also, an "Ask Leslie" segment. I'd guess this DVD fits in category #1.

I got this cheap a Walmart and it has to be the skippiest, glitchiest DVD I own!

Joanna, the Walk Away the Pounds Express 4-Mile does not use the band or any resistance toys. It also includes a grapevine, some double side step variations, and a few double hamstrings. One of the reasons that I like this workout is that it has the production quality of the Goodtimes workouts, a bit of the variety of her earlier stuff and it has a good pace.

I own two other DVDs that should be added to Group 1:

Miracle Mile Walk (1 mile)
Deluxe Walk - includes the Two Mile Walk you already mentioned plus Weight Loss Walk (4 miles) together on one DVD (WLW is available on its own DVD as well)

Additions to Group 3:

Morning Mile Plus Abs
Evening Mile Plus Legs
Power Mile
30 Minute Walk
Walk Away Your Stress
Walk & Kick
Walk & Jog
Muscle Mile One
Yoga Walk

These are all rare and from Goodtimes. I bought Evening Mile and Yoga Walk from the Yahoo store guy, and the rest from an eBay vendor. Power Mile, Walk & Kick and Walk & Jog have their original WATP-style covers, not the redesigned covers on the re-releases. I don't know where these people are getting them because I don't think they were ever officially released. (Note: I have never seen DVDs for Heart Healthy Walk or 10 Minute Tone-up but have to wonder if they're out there somewhere too, since they come from the same era.)

Some other additions:

The Brisk Walk (2 miles)
The Strength Walk (20 minutes walking, 20 minutes toning)

These are exclusive to Jenny Craig and only available from that company's web site.

Walk With Me

I believe this is the same short intro workout that was originally available on VHS as a WATP add-on. It comes in a slip-sleeve, like a CD. I've seen it a few times on eBay recently.

Walk the Walk - Cardio - 1 and 2 mile walks
Walk the Walk - Firm Walk - walking with toning

These are Christian themed.

In Home Walking One Mile Walk
I have only seen this one on Leslie's web site (http://www.lesliesansone.com/store/wa0051.html) and am not sure if it's the same as any of her other one-mile workouts. She also has kids walk and teen walk workouts on her site.

The Short Cuts series is also available on a single DVD now. (Correction: this is a two-DVD set.)

Does anyone have any more additions to our list? If not, I'll pop it over to the FAQs section.

Replying to myself...I got a hold of this and it is the same workout that was released as a WATP add-on. Judging from the Michelina's commercial that appears at the beginning of the DVD, my guess is that it was some kind of free-with-purchase promotion.

I ordered the Shortcuts DVD from collage and just to let you know-it is actually 2 DVD's. Upper/lower on one and Abs on another. Also the back of the DVD's are labeled wrong-the upper/lower says it is the ab workout and abs says it is the upper body

Thanks, Rhonda! I'll update my post. How odd that they messed up the packaging.

A new addition to the list:

The Walk Diet - contains 1-mile and 2-mile workouts. Currently being sold only through Avon, but I believe I read it will be available retail in April. I just got this from someone on eBay and will be back to post my impressions once I try it out.

Edited to add a link to my quickie review of the two-mile workout:

ANOTHER addition!

Leslie is certainly prolific if nothing else.

There is a one-mile workout DVD that comes with her new Walk Away the Pounds book. When you play the DVD, the title screen says In Home Walking One Mile Walk, so this workout MIGHT be the same as the one on her web site (http://www.lesliesansone.com/store/wa0051.html), but I'm not sure about that.

This is a 15-minute workout that maintains a brisk pace throughout the entire time. The part she refers to as the warm-up isn't really much slower than the main part of the workout, and for the "cool-down" she slows down but the music doesn't. The workout was filmed on the same set as You Can Do Abs (and I presume the other two "You Can Do..." workouts, but I don't have them).

I liked this workout a lot because of the fast pace. The only minor annoyance was that Leslie is frequently off the beat. It looks like they may have dubbed in the music after-the-fact.
