I'm reading The Fifth Petal by Brunonia Barry. I read The Lace Reader years ago (I don't remember much about it) and this novel features some of the same characters. It is a good Halloween/Fall read.

Of course, 3 books came in at the same time from the library. I will not be able to read them all - which one should I pick - ????

Kate Morton - The Clockmaker's Daughter
Tana French - The Witch Elm
Marcus Zusak - Bridge of Clay

Happy Reading.

We just got off a cruise, and I was able to do a lot of reading. "The Dream Daughter" was my most anticipated book, and I really enjoyed it. Totally different! I also read "A Spark of Light" by Jodi Picoult, "And Then She Was Gone," by Lisa Jewell, and (for book club) "The Shakespeare Requirement" by Jennifer Shumacher.

Jezz, I recently read The Shakespeare Requirement and loved it!

I just finished Travelling with Pomegranates, by novelist Sue Monk Kidd and her daughter, Ann Kidd Taylor. It was a bit overwrought to me.

Jez, what did you think of the Jodi Picoult? I was disappointed in it, to be honest.

I had my library order the Lisa Jewell book.

The Dream Daughter was just riveting. I was so sorry to finish it, because I was so involved in the story, and now I miss it!

I pre-ordered the new Liane Moriarty book, Nine Perfect Strangers, which is to be released tomorrow. Hopefully, it will fill the void, although so far the reviews are mixed.

I have Nine Perfect Strangers on reserve. I think I am second in line and they ordered two copies.

I also pre-ordered the "Nine Perfect Strangers" audio book which comes out tomorrow. I hope it's good!

I was disappointed with "Truly, Madly, Deeply" because of the build up to the EVENT that was the premise of the whole book. Loved "The Husband's Secret", "Big Little Lies", and "What Alice Forgot" and was hoping for more of that, I guess.

Same here. I thought the topic was interesting, but I hated the backward format. It was annoying and unnecessary. Just tell the story. And the little twist at the very end was just not enough to make up for the weirdness of the format. It just fell flat.

I know I read Jewell's Ralph's Party a LONG time ago; not sure if I've read anything else by her.
