Surprising bar results

So I've been shooting for 4 bar workouts and 1 - 2 cardio workouts per week since April. My eating has been good and I've lost about 6 lbs. I have two summer shirts that I love, but the arms have always been tight. Well, I tried them on, bracing myself for the sausage arms and...it's GONE! I have lost at least an inch off of each arm!

I've always lifted fairly heavy to very heavy. I have never believed in the whole bulking thing and definitely didn't think that I'd ever get long and lean (though a girl can always hope)...but I am seeing progress. I never see changes. I am 47 and have worked out at least 3 days/wk for the past 32 years (yikes!). I still have weight to lose but I am loving this new way of working out. Things started to click when I started comparing barre to yoga. I'm loving the slower, precise workouts with some p57 sprinkled here and there for variety or as a sub for a cardio day.

My latest fave is Dailey method. I tried the 30 minute workout a couple of weeks ago and wasn't in love. Did the long workout yesterday and love it...I have doms today which never happens but it was still a relaxing, fun workout. Thanks for listening!

Congrats! I'm all for the small, precise movement approach, too.

I've been doing Pure Barre live classes (but took a hiatus, so no dramatic results to report yet). And I've got a Dailey Method DVD coming from yayas as of today. w00t!

Yay!!!!!
I like what the little precise movements are doing for me too my sister said that everything is in its place and I don't have a droopy "frying pan bottom" (my younger brother says mom's bottoms are always large and flat, like a frying pan.) Insulting as that term sounds to me, I'm glad mine doesn't look like that....

I have had the same experience. After lifting heavy or at least trying to go as heavy as I could I did start to look bulky. My arms would not fit into my sweaters or T shirts and I was not happy. My jeans were tight in the thighs and seat. Gave it all up for barre, yoga, fusion, pilates and now everything fits. Pants that did not fit for 2 summer seasons are now loose. That was a great surprise when I tried them on this year. Friends are starting to remark that I look good and I feel good. I may have lost some strength but I gained a lot of flexibility and that makes me happy.
