Jessica Smith Gentle Yoga

Has anyone done any Yoga by Jessica Smith

I'm still on my quest to find yoga with a more athletic feel 20 minutes and under. Found out that I am not clicking with Jane Adams and the 10 Minute Solutions yoga dvds are not my cup of tea either.

I'm curious to see if anyone has this dvd and has thoughts or wants to trade it

Thanks for your great selections---you're all awesome!

I guess my question is.. WHICH workout are you curious about?

Jessica caught the Karen Voight virus which presents itself in workouts too similarly named...
I know she has these titles ( but maybe there are more?)
  • Gentle yoga for balance, etc
  • Gentle yoga for back pain, etc
  • Gentle yoga stretch
  • Yoga stretch for beginners
  • Total stretch

Which one of the above were you curious about?

Gentle Yoga for Balance, Flexibility and Mobility, Relaxation, Stretching

The one which has four workouts for various parts of the body.

Also, is there one that might be better than the others for general stretching?

Thanks,
Joanne

Hey Joanne, Gentle Yoga for balance etc does have 20 min segments that are aimed at various areas. I found it more vigorous than the others I have. I consider it more of an active recovery workout.

I am not sure how you intend to use the workouts..BUT when I want to feel soothed and stretched..I reach for Yoga stretch and Total stretch. Both DVDs are fantastic for this purpose IMHO but are generally longer.

The "Total stretch" segment on the Total stretch DVD is under 20 minutes and my favorite on the DVD. I like them all. My rating system consists of hearts and they all have multiple hearts The other segments are all roughly 30 Minutes. The second segment on Total stretch DVD "Dynamic stretch" is easy to stop at about 15 minutes and feel perfectly stretched.

Yoga stretch DVD..both segments are 30 minutes. Both are good but the PM stretch is super relaxing.

I am sorry I don't know anything about Gentle yoga for back pain or the Gentle yoga stretch title.

Maybe someone else will chime in?

Hope this helps.

If you are looking for more of an extended stretch with a yoga-ish vibe vs actual yoga, I find that Cathe's Stretch Max fits the bill. It has three 20 min sessions. I also like some of Jillian Michael's yoga practices. Cathe also has a yoga dvd but I find that I actually like her Stretch dvd better. I do like Jessica as well, I would say she is calming more than athletic unless you consider anything without a meditative feel "athletic". If you consider athletic something with more strength than stretch then that is something a bit different altogether. (I don't have Jessica's Total Stretch but I'm going to have to check that one out now!)

Not really yoga but I do this stretch once a week. I love it and it is Jessica Smith.

Thanks for the link! It looks like something I would like!
I guess I am looking for more active recovery stretch.

I really like this one! I like all four practices. My favorite is Back & Chest with Total Body being a close second.

Haha - you're right! I'm sure it's difficult to come up with original titles all the time but it does become confusing.
