I would find this helpful too, since I'm looking for a good place to start with barre and I'm not able to consider streaming. Adds to this list could include Sadie Lincoln's dvds (Barre3 and Element Barre), Jessica Smith's Barre Fitness, Ballet Beautiful, Sleek Technique, maybe some Kari Anderson and Jennifer Galardi would be appropriate too? This genre has really grown in the past few years.

For those who have experience with a vast range of these workouts, it might even be helpful to color code this list or something. One color for more traditional barre (slower, smaller ROM pulses, like Bar Method), one for those that include larger ROM and/or more ballet type stuff (I think Xtend would fit here), and then maybe ones that are more fusion-y with elements of yoga and Pilates thrown in (Barre3? Jennifer Galardi?). I'm just inferring a lot of this from what I've read, so please feel free to correct me. Also, it would be really helpful to *note which include tucks and which embrace a neutral spine.

LBM, High Round Assets
LBM, Muscle Eats Fat (tried)
Bar Method, fat Free
Element Ballet Conditioning
Squeeze
Cardio Barre (tried, found hard)
iBallet 1 and 3

How would you rate each of these?
My opiniong: Start with Bar Method. Burr gets results, focuses on form, and really does go at a non-intimidating pace. She was my first Barre instructor, and she will always be a fave!!! The Original two Bar Methods (which include the Fat Free that you have) have mini workout bonuses that really short. Start with that, then do the full workout. After that, I would say the Lotte Berks. Still lots of form focus. Then, Element. Save Squeeze and iBallet for last. Cardio Barre is...not for everyone. The pace is frentic and the form cues are weak---if you do it, do it after you've gotten form in your head from (any) of the others, don't stress if you can't match them rep-for-rep at first, and certainly don't judge your barre experience by how you feel about Cardio Barre.

Hi Laura,

Thank you for your input

The original post is from 2009, and I no longer have some of those workouts. I revived it just because IO think it might be useful for barre beginners to have a sequence (the latest version of which is the last post on this page)

I tried TBM last week and I didn't really love it. I don't see myself doing it on a regular basis. Generally I tend to reach for workouts that have a bit of a faster rhythm, however right now I cannot, so I am certainly not ready for Cardio Barre and the like
I would like however to have something with a slightly different rhythm... Ironically, I find very slow-paced workouts more stressful
I'm thinking Pop Physique... but there are a lot that came out since that I may not be familiar with.

Those are all great ideas, Lorelai!
Hopefully someone will come along who is willing to help us add those in

Ok, so this seems to be the latest version when we consider everyone's input.

1. Lotte Berk DVD's minus the bonus workouts.
2. The Bar Method original set
3. Element Ballet Conditioning
4. Lotte Berks Bonus workouts
5. Squeeze Lower Body Challenge
6. Squeeze
7. Cardio Barre 4 in 1 (intro to intermediate)
8. Core Fusion Body Sculpt
9. Pure Barre Pershing Square 2
10. Fluidity
11. Ballet Body – Lower Body
12. Core Fusion Glutes and Thighs
13 Squeeze Stronger
14. The original Pure Barre
15. Super Callenetics
16. Physique 57
17. Cardio Barre Advanced from 4 in 1, and the Ultimate workout.

Now, let's see if we can add a few:

I'm surprised I never contributed to this thread being the barre fan that I am! I don't have a lot of the ones listed before, but of the ones I do (and trying to incorporate new stuff) here's my input:

Toughest
Callentics Extreme/Super
Newer Pure Barre workouts - Resistance, Sculpted Abs, Results
Ballet Body downloads and DVDs
Hilliard Studio Method total body workouts
Barlates advanced workouts
Bar Method Dancer's Body Advanced
Dream Body Barre/Batabarre barre portions
Booty Barre original & abs/arms
Squeeze Stronger
Ballet Physique workouts
P57 workouts, esp the full 57m
Callanetics Pure
Hilliard Studio Method hot flash, bridal, total body tone
Cardio Barre Advanced
Squeeze original
Bar Method other workouts
Pure Barre older workouts
Booty Barre Ballet workout
Core Fusion legs & glutes
Pop Physique DVDs (not enough reps)
Burn at the Barre Advanced workout (short/not enough reps)
Booty Barre beginner
Barre 3 DVDs (no I don't have the streaming)
Not barre per se, but Sleek Technique, Janice Lennard's Ballet Barre, and Trudie Styler's Ballet Barre
Easiest
