And I thought I was the only one

who hated sun salutations! Avoid most everything labeled power yoga because that usually involves sun salutations. I agree with all the above recommendations. Yoga with Ateeka is very good but she does do a short series of SS (maybe 4???).

I don't like them either. I feel very guilty about not liking them, but I just don't. I don't like doing that many chaturangas, and I don't like -gasp- downward dog. I have a really tight lower back, and it makes that pose so hard for me. But in many twists I could bind the first time I tried them! Weird how that works.

I'm sick of them too. Yogaband I, as I noted in my recent review, does a very nice warmup and workout without any. I was disgusted to find out that Yogaband II's warmup is the hateful salutations.

Just a thought....

In the UK :-
Geri Body Yoga DVD - has sunsalutations BUT that's only 1 of the 6 programmable segments - so easy to miss out,
I like the moon salutations - not done anything like that on the DVD/vids I have collected so far,
Also has warm up, strength, bliss and chill segments - one of which is about breathing.
I particularly like the teacher Kay Appleton her voice in the relaxation

Not all of these are really new, but they avoid full sun salutations (as I recall):

Erich Schiffmann's Backyard Series: Beginners; Backbends; Lotus. He does a very truncated version he calls half salutes that are little more than going back and forth between standing forward bend and tadasana with arms raised -- then (usually) transitioning to standing poses.

Ana Forrest Strength & Spirit. Pleasure of Strength has Ana's sun salutations, but I don't remember any in S&S.

Mary Pappas Yoga Complete for Weightloss [sic] is Iyengar, so no sun salutations.

It's very easy to skip the sun salutations in Shiva Rea's Yoga Shakti -- I always do.

Jill Miller's DVDs each focus on an area ... and no sun salutions.

I will join the anti-sun salutations society!!

Hate em, hate, em, hate em! I have low blood pressure, so they make me sooooo dizzy when I'm doing them.

I'm with you all. I am not a sun salutation person either. I have a few videos with sun salutations and one I don't do anymore is YogaX - seems like between every pose is chatarunga/plank/up dog/ down dog. Last time I did this I skipped out on a few of those. Way too many for my taste.
