I ordered the Weight Loss Cardio Kick and Cardio Sculpt. Those are both Acacia. I also ordered her Trainer's Edge Killer Kicks. I know there's also the Star Trainers series, but I'm not sure if I want those. I did one of my Bodystrike DVDs the other day and started looking for other good "kicking" workouts

Re: Ilaria rotation, I've thought about doing a strictly Ilaria rotation before and I think I could make it work. This was going to be my next experiment, but I was waiting for my new bokken to arrive (also from eBay ) because the one I currently have makes the timing awkward with Forza. It's too long, so I purchased a shorter one. My Ilaria rotation idea revolves around Bodystrike for lower body, Forza for back, triceps and forearms, Atletica for functional strength. Powerstrike for cardio and punching! (although there's a huge cardio benefit from all of them) and she hits abs in every workout. I really don't enjoy most lower body workouts, so I'm going to try Bodystrike a couple times a week for a little while and see what happens. So maybe:

Mon: Bodystrike
Tues: Atletica
Wed: Forza
Thurs: Bodystrike
Fri: Atletica
Sat: Powerstrike

I have all of her DVDs, so can use the different volumes of each type, and I would probably swap out Michael Olajide and The Addiction workouts for Powerstrike sometimes. I also have Abs & Pushups, and can add that on if I have it in me.

Of course, I know I'll throw some other things in there, but for the thread topic, that's my idea for an Ilaria rotation

the only Ilaria i own is Forza II!

i personally like the Star Trainers series. you get 5 workouts, all by competent and well-established instructors:

Gay Gasper
Rob Glick
Kendell Hogan
Kim Spreen
Violet Zaki

the workouts are on 3 separate disks:

5 Cardio workouts (30 min ea)
5 Strength workouts (20 min ea)
5 Ab workouts (10 min ea)

i consider the workouts as solid intermediate.

I like the look of the Susan Chung dvds. I will have to see about getting those. Never done Ilaria Montagnani either. Which is a good one to start with?

I am a fan of rotations also. I have done Cath's STS (heavy weight splits 3 days per week) with alternating days of her boxing dvds. That felt like an actual rotation because of the STS foundation. Unfortunately, I get better results (lean out more) if I do STS with rest days so haven't repeated that recently.

UFC Fit and Rushfit are both fun sets that alternate MMA type moves with body weight/weight moves though not really on separate days. They do have strength focused days in the rotations. However, body weight is heavier than the free weights most people tend to choose (even in heavy weight programs) and can be very effective. These programs always give me nice results and the MMA/kick boxing type moves feel cool and are motivating. As I recall, I was able to heavy up more on the weight moves in the Rushfit strength focused dvds.

Rushfit review and breakdown

Unfortunately, I'm not sure about easy availability but I mention them any way because Vfers are pretty good at finding their desired programs and there may be a willing trader in the group (or even digital availability). Even if these programs don't fit your current plan, a rotation junkie might enjoy them for a future rotation

FYi--I didn't mention Tapout because I'm not a fan (instructor) and it leans more into cardio. It uses bands if that interests you.

Thanks. I will look at those and the rotations

These are my most used. The last Ilaria one posted uses weights so might not be what you are looking for. All of Susan's RapidFire workouts are fairly similar, some differences in the ab work and the length and type of exercises in the weighted sections if you even choose to do those. You can't go wrong with any of them.

All of Ilaria's videos within each "type" are similar (i.e. Atletica, Bodystrike, Powerstrike, Forza). The Atleticas all have similar functional strength moves using dumbbells (except Atletica 4 is bodyweight only and is more similar to her Abs & Pushups DVD). The Bodystrikes are all lower body only, with kicks and sneaky squats and lunges that make me forget that I'm really doing squats and lunges . Powerstrikes are kickboxing. Forza are the two sword workouts.

My personal favorite Bodystrike is #2, Powerstrike is #7, Atletica is #2, Forza is #2. A lot of people really don't like the newer set and music that she used, but I do! I would say the lower the number in any given series, the more basic the workout, so probably the best place to start, but not necessarily the most enjoyable.
Collage Video has clips for all of her workouts to get a feeling of the vibe from each: https://www.collagevideo.com/collect...ria-montagnani

Stephanie, is there a huge difference between Forza 1 vs. 2? when Ilaria made them available for purchase again, i selected #2. i put off buying #1 for the longest time because it was so expensive. then both became available and i was thrilled.

how many inches is your "sword" that you recently purchased?

I like #2 better because it has a few more moves and is a little more fun. it seems to flow a little better. Plus I like the set and background exercisers (particularly Omar and Elizabeth) more on #2.

The swords I just bought are 31" ( they came in a 2-pack for $14!). They are wooden with a wrapped handle. Good enough for exercising! The one I had already is 40" and plastic, and it just seemed like it was harder to keep up with the workout because of the length of the blade. I think the shorter one will fix that. I just searched "short practice bokken" on ebay. This is the listing I purchased from, and it shipped quickly and in good condition : https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Pcs-Red-3...edirect=mobile. They came with plastic guards that can be attached, but I don't plan on using those.
