I was thinking of Tai Chi as well, and specifically of Scott Cole. Collage Video has a lot of his DVDs, including his new ones, so you can see clips, and some of them are really cheap on Amazon (I think his 3 newest are in the $8-9 range). This one specifically has Balance in the title:

There's a lot on this DVD; you get a lot of bang for your buck! (Jane's other DVDs are also excellent, but I know you're just focusing on balance here.) The only thing I take issue with is the title. It's not just for seniors.

I want to clarify: Jane Adams actually has two DVD's that have a lot of balance work. Her older one (Alta's link) is Stronger Standing Balance and is mostly indoors. Her newer one (Ann's link) is Balance and Strength and is mostly outdoors. There is a whole separate Tai Chi section in this one. Both DVD's are excellent.

There's also this one by Jessica Smith:

One of the 3 workouts on the DVD is specifically for balance and agility.

Who is the instructor?

David Dorian Ross. On the cover (of Gaiam Relax and Restore) The workout is listed as Calming Tai Chi for Beginners, but when the workout starts the title is Tai Chi for Lower Body. It's a nice workout, set outside in the desert with calming music.

Born to Balance: Balance Basics by T. Jacob Felder.

I did the Part II: Balance Techniques and Poses of this DVD today. (Part 1 is an Introduction and Part 3 (about 12 minutes long) are the exercises shown in Part 2, but without the longer explanations).

I am pleased with the exercises and his explanations. The main reasons I have balance problems became clear and with the exercises I started to correct my alignment. I found myself correcting the way I was walking and standing later in the day. I am looking forward to using this DVD a couple times a week and I think it is going to really help me with my balance.

Thanks again to the kind VFer who gave it to me.

I went to both his website and Amazon (which his website sends you to) and his DVD only seems to be available as a DVD- r. Is that what you have, Pam?

The Firm: Skills, Drills & Thrills with Tina Smalley uses a balance disc and has a lot of balance work.
