I was complaining to my husband the other day about certain poses being in every workout. I know part of it is me buying blendy w/o's because that's what I like to do. However, even my ancient Jane Fonda's have what she calls "morningstar" in them. This morning, short on time and my exercise space already being hot, I did the bonus workout on candlelight yoga, and she did different things. Even her cat/cow was done standing, so I didn't feel like I was doing the same old same old.

I hate sun salutations and frankly, down dog has lost its considerable charm for me!

I also hate and despise sun sals. I got so burned out of them from YTT I swore I'd never do another one. Kundalini, as Betsy said, rarely, if ever, has them. Kate Potter's Namaste Yoga doesn't have many at all either. That is very gentle yoga at 23 minutes an episode.

I rarely do sun salutations and never see them in my classes so I hate running across them in video.

Erich Schiffmann's standby Backyard Series from years ago presents a wonderful alternative to ss -- he's one of Ivanhoe's teachers.

Also, there are several teachers on Yogaglo that don't include sun salutations. Jason Crandall's hatha and/or tutorial offerings generally evade the body flings.

When I do find myself enmeshed in a video practice that leads down the sun salutation road I just stay in long downward dogs -- nice way to build strength.

Mary Pappas-Sandonas is mentioned upthread and she's a good option. She's Iyengar and Ivengarians don't generally do sun salutations.

Barbara Benagh's DVDs don't, as a rule, include the salutations, though they occur occasionally.

I have a couple hundred yoga DVDs and sun salutations are relatively rare in my collection. So it's possible to avoid them!

Hi NoraKate! The Benaghs that I like best are Beginners, Yoga for Stress Relief, AM/PM for Beginners, Back Care. There may be some sun salutations in the earlier two, but I never use those so can't recall.

Rodney Yee's AM Yoga for Your Week is sun salutation free as well.

And don't forget that sunscreen.
