Firm ?

First: how many of you are currently doing a Firm rotation and what is your layout for the week?

Second: have you done a bunch of other workouts and just didn't like the results and have gone back to the firm? If so, which workouts did you try.

Third: Do you find that AWT is enough strength work?

Hi kariev,

My current rotation is Firm Express--I do one cycle each week, plus 3 times a week I do Jen's abs. I add 2-3 days of whatever else I feel like doing. This week I'll add Results Fitness Lower Body and Barry's Bootcamp Lower Body plus the Mission Specialist Lower Body workout. I've been on and off with the Firm for the last 20 years but am in an on phase currently. I'm really loving the Pinks and the Express System. Yes, I feel like it's enough strength work. I also walk my dogs an hour a day weather permitting. This is working out well for me--5-6 days of workouts that are under 40 minutes that include cardio, core and resistance, and then my long slow cardio (we do walk at a fairly decent clip). HTH!

I'm doing The FIRM's 90 Day rotation. I just finished week 3 yesterday. Next week on the agenda: Maximum Body Shaping, The Hare, Firm Cardio, The Hare, Better Body & Buns, Fat Blaster.

AWT is great, but I need to use their strength videos, too, such as the tortoises and Tough Tape, etc.

I'm an old-school Firmie, I do Anna's Firms. I enjoy many of the BSS Firms as well.

I have been doing the Firm monthly specialty rotations from the Firm site since Dec. 2006. I have been doing Firm workouts since 1989 and have not really given anything else a try. Gym-style weight training and "pure" cardio are not appealing to me.

This month's rotation has a cardio/core focus. The workouts are 6 days a week with Tuesdays off. I don't have most of the kit workouts, so I substitute for those. My workouts for this week are:

Sunday - Accelerate Cardio+Sculpt, Sculpt & Tone Pilates
Monday - Pump It Up, Dangerous Curves Ahead Express Abs/Core Cardio
Tuesday - Rest
Wednesday - Ignite Cardio+Sculpt, Turbocharge Cardio+Sculpt, Core Solutions Traditional Abs
Thursday - Fat Blasting Cardio
Friday - Ignite Sculpt, Turbocharge Sculpt, Express Abs
Saturday - Cardio Dance Slimdown

I'm doing a Firm rotation.

I'm doing 3 firms a week - alternating between AWT or the cardio and weight and just sculpt. Sometimes I'll do a Joyce V. or Cathe for a sculpt. I'm mixing and matching between classic and newer and some fitprimes. Then I'm doing one kickbox a week for cardio - either a Cathe or turbofire or another and then one cardio coach a week. If I can, I am trying to fit in another cardio and I walk my dog daily.

I take one yoga class a week and I sneak in yoga after the workouts.

My rest day is Monday - since I'm in class that day. I take another rest day as needed.

This I will keep up until the third week of August when I go back to school full time and I need to go back to fitting in quick workouts when I can.

Also, this is helping me really decide which firms I like and which ones I don't.

I took my measurements before I started and I'm going to take them when I finish to see what results I got. I never ever finish an entire rotation so I can never accurately say what results I get.

not really doing a rotation just picking and choosing what i feel like.

i got rid of the firm years ago when i was into straight forward style weigh lifting and didn't find them useable in my routine. i have since changed my ways on that. i am able to fit in a firm workout anywhere depending on if it is a "tortoise" or "hare" workout. i currently do tabata/HIIT style workouts, kettlebells, some barre and pilates (for flexibility), and running. most of the firms i have add on extra boost to HIIT workouts for kettlebell workouts for me. i do a lot of stuff on my own and like to add on with dvds like calorie explosion, the new ignite one (retail release with the 2 FE workouts) and zero in ten. i also like to use as a warm up before a run. the older ones i prefer to use on their own b/c they are longer and have more weight training.

if i do a tortoise type firm workout, especially the older ones, say on a 3 day week basis, i can go heavier; so yes for me personally i find it enough. when i was running years ago that is how i set up my program and it worked wonders. i wasn't overworked, saw good results (diet factor of course) and they paired nicely with running. the extra cardio was a break from running and gave me a good cross training factor. it is something i am wanting to try again since i reacquired some of the old firm workouts i used to have, as well as some new ones.

Hi Carol - do you find enough of the older Firms used in the rotations for your taste? I know everyone is different on how much they enjoy the BBH, BSS, Pink workouts; just wondered your thoughts.

Since I've been doing Firm workouts since the beginning and buying them as they are released, they've all gotten plenty of use when they were new. So I'm perfectly happy focusing on the newer workouts and doing the older ones occasionally. Although I keep reading here that people prefer the Firm era that they started with, that is not true for me. I enjoy all of them.
