Yeah, stretchy band seems like a solution. However, I had a hide-a-wallet thigh thing for travel (so you can avoid getting pickpocketed -- at least not without you're noticing a hand going up your pant leg or dress!) with elastic/Velcro attachments and even with just the weight of a few paper Euros, it still slipped down my leg as I walked.

Stockings that end at the thigh -- even with elastic/rubber -- also slip down. Can't wear 'em.

So it seems like garter weights are the only possibility for me. But boy, they sure do look funny!

I emailed Willowear out of curiosity to ask how big their leg weights can stretch. Here's what they said: "Measuring the wrap around the thigh just above the knee the wrap can go 28”-29” comfortably."

Doesn't Margaret Richard use Willowear leg weights when she does standing work on some of her dvds? Someone else might be able to confirm that. I don't have her more recent dvds so I'm not sure. But you'd think these would be made extra heavy duty. If not they could always be returned.

I use ankle weights above my knee - felt like it was twisting my knee to use weights on my ankles.

I have two sets of light ankle weights that fasten with velcro straps. I'm able to loop two together and fasten them around my upper leg that way.

What a great idea. Do they stay in place?

Pretty well, although I've only used them this way lying down, not standing.
