I just started a novel written by rocker Rick Springfield several years ago called Magnificent Vibration. The first few pages were hilarious...but the main character's obsession with sex is getting a little tedious.

Aww, Alison, that is disappointing.

I'm reading The Book of Lost Names now and hate it. It's rated highly so I don't know if it's just me, but the writing is getting on my last nerve and makes me want to throw the book violently against the wall. I can't stand the characters either. I'm 1/3 through the book and am thinking of just stopping. I just finished Nonviolent Communication and Someone Could Get Hurt: A Memoir of Twenty-First-Century Parenthood. I liked them both. Erica |

I am reading The Exiles by Christina Baker Kline and like that one as well. Her books are hit-or-miss with me and this is one that I have stuck with. And I'm soooo excited because I just got The Return of the Thief. Have you read it yet, Alison?

I just bought the Kindle book “The Undoing” that was the basis of the HBO series starring Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, and Donald Sutherland. It just started airing last week. It looks interesting, and I have a few weeks to read it, lol.

I like The Exiles because it is about a situation in history that I've never read about, women convicts sent from England to Australia in the mid-1800s. I know it's fictional, but the book reads like she did a lot of research.
