Workout Tracking Ideas?

I have used Running Ahead for years to track my walks and runs as my Garmin Forerunner syncs automatically. I've discovered the one thing that HIGHLY motivates me is my running/walking streak (record: 59 days).

Aside: Funny how we are all motivated by different things. My husband obsesses (mildly) about his daily steps but that does nothing for me.

Back on Topic: I also now want to start an exercise video streak (even if some days are just Tamilee's 10 minute stretches) but I am trying to come up with a way to visually motivate myself for tracking the streak. I can't just use a calendar on the wall in my exercise room (an obvious solution) because I live part time between two houses. An app would be awesome but seems like an unlikely possibiliity. Any ideas from the collective wisdom?

If you don't mind paper and pencil, when I was on Canva yesterday, I happened to notice that their templates include things like planner and calendar pages. Everything is completely customizable, so you could easily make them for however you want to track your workouts, and then you could have blank sheets available in both of your locations.

I used the Chains app on the iPhone for awhile. It seems to be exactly what you might be describing. It's a simple app that lets you set goals for yourself and then you check in every day and mark it complete. It tells you how many days you've accomplished the goal.

You can get more info here.

I use a super simple free app called Habit List to track days of exercise streaks.

There is one that seems pretty awesome called Productive (or something like this) that is either free in a limited way with an non-free upgrade, or free as a trial (14 days?) and then you auto pay unless you delete. I am "app-challenged old" so I failed to understand which of these is correct. (I deleted it after a 3-minute trial because tracking an exercise streak is only worth it to me if it is free.)

These are all great ideas. I'm so glad I asked. Keep the suggestions coming. I'm off to start researching these options.

Hi Laura.

In this chain app can you use your own topics?
Say I did kB on day
Next I do stretching
Next I do a walking dvd.

How does this motivate you ?

I'm really intrigued by Chains as well. It seems to be almost exactly what I am looking for.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, it doesn't look like Chains is available for the Android.

I do see some other Habit Tracker apps that I'm going to do some research on.
